I will never, to this very day, understand this. Armageddon has the highest staff/player ratio that I know of in MUDspace. No other MUD, RPI or otherwise, comes close. Some, like Haven, are literally one man shows - others, like ATS, make do with just two guys. Sindome is somehow still alive, and doesn't have half the staff team Armageddon does. And these places do just fine where staff response times and efforts are concerned when compared to Armageddon, too. Waiting for this or that to happen isn't a longer, more tedious, or more infrequent process at all. What's more, Armageddon had a point in its lifecycle where the staff/player ratio was a lot lower. You could see the chronology pages yourself and could see that during these times more stuff that was worthy of getting penned into history was actively going on.I have no idea what changed. Sincerely, I don't, and neither did Halaster when I asked him what happened. But it baffles me that so very many people can spend so very many hours, and come up with so little that they agree, amongst themselves, as you now confirm, it just isn't visible enough. Mystifying. Deeply confusing. Utterly and completely bizarre. Look at how much drama Sindome has going on vs arm, and how many of their plots are carried mostly by the players. |

what made these last several months novel? the pace of these boards has always been a soapbox for people to leak information. ten years ago staff leaked out the whole 'dropping a volcano' plot, for example: armageddonmud.boards.net/thread/80/hrpt-volcano-dropped-tan-muarkwas mehtastic really that big of a thorn in the admin side? it felt like months would go by where he was the only one posting here and it was shit that was too long and banal for me to even bother reading. |

1. Would love to know why the producers/staff team didn't just bring the receipts? Like how do you simultaneously hold this board and mehtastic up as significant influences on the closure of the game but not I guess address the "public concern"?
2. Can my2sids elaborate about why the shadowboard on year 20 of its existence becomes the bane of the game versus all other times? Like to you does it feel like this board really had that much influence or is it just a bunch of tired people looking at a reduced player pool and thus a reduced reward for their efforts seeing the grognards complaining and just saying... Yeah I'm done with all of it. Personally I just can't believe it wasn't player number driven at its core but Mehtastic is claiming it's the leaks the leaks the leaks that did it and the announcement appears to concur.

They only want what's bad and they're probably all cheaters and bad people and good riddance and, and, and, and clearly WE'RE not like them so it's fine. When those lines get blurred, when it becomes more than a little obvious it's not all so black and white, when people you thought in the 'us good guys' camp start leaking, that falls apart, and you have nobody you can really hope to work with any more. Pretty obvious the actual info of the leaks proper wasn't very impressive, sure, no doubt about that. It amounted to so little of substance that it was never going to be about that, so much as what it would represent. |

Many of mehtastic posts of recent happenings in the game sound like they come from a staffer or clan lead unusually intimately in the know of behind the scenes machinations of multiple clans and players. Like the post about the copper indie clan and their interactions with staff. Someone has to be deep in the game to have that kind of overhead perspective. It's not the kind of thing you'll pick up on playing a runner or grebber selling chalton hides. The leaker would have to be a staffer or at least a clan lead heavily involved in discord cliques. |
