Hasbro has been pissing people off left and right.
In order to try and make up for pissing off the players they are claiming they will bring back the Dark Sun setting in 5.5edition... Which makes no sense because real Dark Sun is more grimdark than WH40K and the companies more modern sensibilities is going to be a struggle but there you go... DND Dark Sun coming again.

You got a link to this? I'd be interested to see what they've said so far. I'd love a Dark Sun settings book, but I think you're right when talking about how it'll go over with modern sensibilities.

youtu.be/S97u_M2QuPU?si=ZYs3xRaM9suvzdBUClaims that sections of the 2024 Players Handbook plus the fact Dark Sun is one of the only unused settings means they have something in the works. So nothing official yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see a MTG print of Dark Sun / Dragon Lance cards as a trial balloon to gauge interest. I was so surprised about it I posted without fully researching.

One of the things that does point to the eventuality of a Dark Sun 5.5 printing is that WotC likely couldn't justify the development & fabrication of an already 5e explored setting. For instance they did go back through Curse of Strahd and remove the Vistani prejudice and so forth, but that was a 2nd printing, not a new book per se. Like Jeshin says, Dark Sun is one of the only unused settings up their sleeve. You'll also recall that thri-kreen were in the Astral Adventurer's Guide which was with the Spelljammer line.

There's a vague mention of Dark Sun in the spelljammer book I think, it calls the Shard it is in 'Doomspace' or some shit and mentions it being ruled by sorcerer kings.

Ngl, husband and I would be all about some darksun themed MTG cards. That sounds like a lot of fun.

Not sure how much you still follow MTG but if you would like Darksun themed cards they've been doing a lot of special releases and there is a dnd release coming out this year/next year (soontm). It will have some Baldurs Gate 3 characters in it among other things.

Ah yes the sexified Astarion deck lol
We've been playing a lot of bloomburrow. Hazel of the Rotbloom (squirrel necromancer) is my favorite.
