As if Halaster or someone sympathetic to staffers couldn't have staged a conversation and posted it here to try and discredit us.
This is the most laughable nerd slap fight in human history.

The stark contrast between this announcement and Halaster's tone after the fact is aggravating. This just happened about an hour later in a group DM. (Halaster = Mukutep) Even without the confirmation by Halaster that's obviously fake. Can we ban this fuck tard? jcarter

Posting fake shit undermines everyone on here posting real info. Don't do this. I agree ban someone posting fake stuff. It hurts everyone else's legitimacy.

Muddy the waters. Make it seem as if somehow, the staffers are being persecuted when people simply want truth, transparency, action, and honesty.
Oh, and to not be treated like misbehaving and unruly children for speaking up.

Way back, Nessalin tried to teach me all sorts of pysch-out tactics on how to make a group of rulebreaking players fight each other. This situation with the fake log definitely seems like one of them... whether it actually is or not, who can say.

I haven't played since Larimar. It's like watching a car wreck on the side of the road when you're driving by, I dunno I can't look away? I guess even more so it's a car I used to drive a lot so I'm even more interested in how it turns out.

I feel sad that this may be it for Arm. I regretfully sunk a decent portion of my life into that game as I'm sure many others have. It wasn't worth it. I've never been able to fully let go and have kept tabs on what's happening in game even though I'm not playing anymore. There's a sick and toxic element to the Arm community that I doubt will ever go away if the game survives this. How could it go away when everyone takes the investment in their characters so seriously because of the high stakes gameplay? And taking so seriously the reputation of their accounts. I remember grovelling and begging staff for forgiveness for things that I didn't even do. I feel like Arm brought out the worst in me.

That, and/or if we also consider their post claiming to have "behind the scenes" knowledge of staff response & intentions, they probably wanted to stoke the flames of distrust that staff will try to do the right thing, and therefore encourage the "dead game" result. Which, while I worry it's going that way anyway, there's no call to purposefully give this situation a proverbial shove off a cliff. That's disrespectful and disingenuous, and certainly no better than the behavior we are protesting.

I'd love for Arm to go on, and even thrive... just without the frankly disturbing behaviors.
My stance on it may be not popular, but I did not mind the theme, or even some of the more (and I cringe to say it because it's so overused - gritty and harsh elements). I'm just a firm advocate of consent, and a good honest try at keeping actual children out of such spaces. I knew when I posted my own issues with things, that there would be no rejoining the group because I've seen how others were immediately villified. I kept getting flat out ignored when I brought up my discontent. I guess I should be happy that it didn't escalate.
The fact that they had a lot of us begging and groveling for forgiveness and favor in private, while taking no accountability themselves is awful. I'll miss Arm, and I love Arm and all its potential, but the idea of going back is... ugh.

I think I had my fun with Arm, and I was even thinking of coming back when I saw they displaced Shalooonsh.
Then I saw they were covering for him and making the players out to be the bad people.
This MUD has totally ruined it's taste, and I don't think I'll be ever coming back unless the staff turn around and fix things with genuine intentions.
Sadly, I don't think that'll ever happen. These people are truly hopeless.
EDIT: Also, learning that Rika is actually Gynesis is fucking hilarious. No wonder her shitty trading company got a full on 6+ room compound, complete with shopkeeper, numerous warehouses, and a sparring room in under an IC year.

That is what has pissed me off for years, the favoritism and masturbatory nature of staff and their favorites. When I learned staff were able to play PCs at all, I automatically became less invested in this game because of the blatant conflict of interest. Imagine playing a DnD game where the DM is a narcissistic douche giving himself limitless power ups while you get nothing. That is ArmageddonMUD in a nutshell.Even if staff don't play PCs, they will always have favorites, and for years I have pointed out how roles and perks disproportionately go to those favorites. I'm busy IRL, and I get denied roles outright because I don't "play at least 10 hours a week." I can accept this. But it is sad to see great players with more free time than me floundering and wasting that free time because they aren't in the sycophant's circle, and it is sad to see these talented players inevitably leave. Usually the impetus for their departure will be [1] rules unevenly being applied to them which aren't applied to staff favorites (for example, people have had evidence for years of various staff pets OOCing about living characters, yet nothing happens to them), [2] outright harassment like what many female players of this game, Bebop, and so forth have experienced, or [3] neglect, such as players struggling for years to attain what staff and pets often easily attain as you have noted above. All of us can do fine without participating in this nerdy circle jerk, but ArmageddonMUD has a 30-some year legacy that extends beyond the pack of dweebs running it to the ground now. I guess the best any of us can do is keep in touch with the friends we've made along the way. I know in my case, these people are talented, interesting folks who have much more merit than the sociopathic staffers and sycophants who tried their darndest to silence dissent and slander the reputations of good people.

Armageddon's impending death is bittersweet. It was fun once, but at this point if the only way for people to be safe is for the game to close, so be it. People's safety matters more than a few silly stories.
