I used to use BlowTorch on my android phone but I didn't use it much because it was on my phone. Chromebooks let you use android apps, right? There's also a website client that you don't even need telnet for, www.mudportal.com. I haven't used it myself but it's just a webpage with the mud client built in.

I played on a chromebook for quite a while while I was travelling last year. I'll see if I can find the apps I used. I think I've fully reset my machine a few time since then though so I may not be able to find good info. If you have a relatively newer machine I would recommend looking into the Linux Beta stuff they have going on. I think it's a Debian (Buster) dist. It should be possible to get pretty nice clients up and running on that EDIT: Something else I used to run on my chromebook, before the Linux beta was Crouton. This allowed you to boot a Linux dist. alongside the usual ChromeOS on the machine. It requires that you shift the machine into developer mode which is a hassle but I found it to be no issue. From there I was be able to run some games, install programming IDEs, compile and run Python scripts. I'm sure it would be simple to get a nice MUD client on that system as well. Le me know if you want some more help getting a settup you enjoy using
