I've seen this mentioned before, but never elaborated on. Apparently the "Change" command was once used to transform if one could (same with elemental forms).
Does anyone know the mechanic changes behind this? Can/could it be spread? Are there any stories to tell?
I ask this out of curiosity. And because it sounds absolutely metal. And like a great way to get rid of an ethereal spy.

The code for the weretembo as a C special that Nessalin did for Sanvean and Brixus. It was tailor coded for each character and it would restring each character's description and skills. It also had the side effect of dropping all their gear on the ground (maybe this was intentional). The first iterations of weretembo were for Sanvean's and Brixus's avatars that were designed to just stir things up and make things interesting in the northlands. Eventually the powers that be hunted these freaks down and killed them because everyone was afraid of them (Mostly in the north because they were magickal. I think the last one died to a templar in Allanak, seemed to have been something like suicide by templar.)
Later there was a resurgence of the weretembo that a staffer did as it's own plot. The code for these weretembo was mostly the same but only modified slightly as it was set up for specific NPCs.
Later there were javascripts made that actual players used, mostly elementalists who were transforming into sub-elementals. I remember specifically there was a whiran that could turn into a flying creature, but I forgot the name. It was a very powerful ability.

And considering how common that dropping all your shit when you transform is in any game, I imagine it was intentional. Not something I ever liked, personally, because it made these sorts of things next to useless in my opinion. That's also what I consider a perfect staff plot: Stir up shit and then let the players murder each other over it. Which is why I'll always remember Jcarter's "Give Joe Glasshacker a ring that tells him to murder people" idea.
