When it comes to what skill boosting items are better, I had heard ic that the quartz hidescraper is the best to use, making me figure it must skill bump better than the rest. Anyone have an idea of the best skinning items? To max out the chance of getting a jade gland.

Since we are talking about +skill items. I think shields are +skill items. The heavier/more expensive/better type shield you have the more +skill you get with shield_use.

I've seen posts here on +hide gear, I guess it is weaker than the archery brace that I saw was +10? What is a full kit of hide gear vs a piece? Like just a cloak, or just leggings?

Alright so just some thoughts. Scan maxes at 90 for rangers and hide at 80.
There are roughly 10 pieces of hide+ gear
cloak head neck body arms (i think) legs wrists (x2) boots quiver (which can be a belt)
I think the really light leather inky gear is +2 each. Same with sandcloth kuraci gear. The slightly thicker armors, earthy gear and maybe the tembo leaf stuff Salarri sells might be +1, at least that would make sense to me, since you trade off utility for more armor. In short in my mind the really light stuff that offers almost no protection is +2 while the heavier stuff with a bit more protection is +1.
Remember that without gear ranger scan can still sometimes pick up hidden assassin and thieves in the city so some kinda of gear is needed regardless to be effective. This also means that higher level hide does not guarantee you won't be spotted, what is being able to hide from eyes 9/10 times, when i can spam look as much as i want without lag. However with full good gear you can hit +100 hide or very close to it at least, which makes it awesome and brag worthy for sneaks.

Hawks and things like that might be scan+ items. However I've never tested it.

So, what's the difference between the scrub, desert, forest camoflauged gear? Do they give just benefits to that type of terrain?

Codedly, there is no difference. Codedly, it's all the same. But regardless of what some say, the Imms "are" making the game alive sometimes, animating stuff and so on. So without Imm interaction, being dressed in the wrong camouflage will still fool the NPCs. With Imm interaction, you might expect some seriously funny, usually unpleasant, surprises.
There is 'some' leniency to it for the most part, since a lot of times it's a real hassle to change about camouflage when you gotta go back and forth across the world. But if you for example start using wilderness camo to hide in the city streets? Codedly it will work, but ... realistically speaking it's ridiculous. Sooner or later, Imms will make it clear how ridiculous it is.

Not really. I believe you get a penalty to steal if you are wearing gloves.

A rinthi merchant of great skill once said he was planning to mastercraft (an innocent looking item). A basic item with one edge so sharp, its easier for pick pockets to split open people's pouches and recover the goods, while at the same time looking innocent enough not to raise people's suspicion if they seem they holding it. I never did learn if that pc went through with it, or not. But its a possibility. This was easily six years ago.

If I remember right, the help files say that armor pretty much breaks hide and sneak, maybe it's just an encumbrance thing? I've seen now and again in game, a silt-camo horror shell great helm or something like that, I'd guess other items of that style could be made from whoever makes it and it's ldesc would seem to show it doesn't break sneak or hide?

Mesh tembo set is basically just medium armor, good protection vs weight. Not sure if there are anymore benefits than that. Perhaps help keep you from getting too thirst as quick in extremely hot areas or when traveling around on the desert on foot. Maybe, but i doubt it.
Its an encumbrance thing, if your obsidian armor feels light on you, then you are fine, just need to stay light weight or under (preferably) so you don't suffer penalties to hide/sneak.
