Yeah, that doesn't equate to anything related to the pacing of the game in my opinion. The pacing of a true RPI is the rate at which staff run plots, the time in which the game world revolves, wounds heal, etc. Just because segments of the playerbase like to type long, flowery emotes and rp police combat doesn't mean the game is slow paced or like a book.
Don't know why I'm addressing that, because there's literally nothing here to lead you to believe that SoI as a RPI is like that. It's the exact opposite. Orcs, focus on PvP, attracted a good amount of Arm players, using the same codebase as Atonement. The only reason it isn't gotta go fast sanic speed is because you can't twink from room to room in 1 sec like in Arm. Takes more like 3-10 seconds.
Anyway, if you don't like orcs, it's probably not worth playing. Unless you like the idea of playing a helpless maiden inside the town while all the noob men hide on the walls when orcs show up or run outside and die.

I actually enjoyed the dwarven area alot. But like you said the area isn't that large, and there are a couple lethal animals that spawn CLOSE to the outpost that have some lethal poisons. Hags being one, and if I remember some worm or cilops like critter was the other, 1 bite - dead. The rest of the animals I hunted there was no problems.

EoE isn't shit, you as a player just dont like the game. Its actually a really cool RPI mud that has dedicated staff, and a pbase thats growing quickly. But I do agree - it should be talked about in the EoE thread.

Just to get this back on the topic of the right fucking game...
What's going on with this? I glance at their forum every few days like I do with all the other RPIs just to see what's happening, and their forum is basically a graveyard.
Like last week their server was hacked and, according to an admin, "fully compromised" to the point where they urged people to change their passwords. There has been zero reaction to this on their forum.
That seems really dire. What's going on?

Weird. Wasn't it pretty popular just last month? I logged in just to have a look around and I couldn't find a human PC anywhere in town. SoH had a great deal of potential, but everyone who made it interesting has died or abandoned their characters. I suppose I should be happy I wasn't told to fuck off this time, at least.

Weird. It seemed to have so many players waiting for it to open. I quit after a few weeks but it had good numbers at the time. Did it collapse that quickly? What went wrong, aside from the game being wrought around a clique of favorites?

I think people simply switched games if all that is true.
Being as it's been within the last month that login #'s at the RPI I'm playing have literally doubled.

Weird. It seemed to have so many players waiting for it to open. I quit after a few weeks but it had good numbers at the time. Did it collapse that quickly? What went wrong, aside from the game being wrought around a clique of favorites? It started out very strong. Some of the problems were: 1) The Hillmen become the center of the game and enjoyed and extreme level of staff preference, thus the running joke of it being Shadows of the Hillmen. 2) The game became stagnant; while a select few enjoyed private plots, exclusive benefits and statistic and skill 'adjustments', everyone else was stuck with do-nothing clans and an economy that limped at the best of times. I'm fine with entertaining myself, but it's hard not to feel excluded when the same handful of people keep coming into the tavern every other day with another story of amazing adventure and fantastic creatures. 3) Staff broke their own rules; resurrecting friends, protecting them from in-game consequences, punishing PCs who acted against their friends or spoke out against the state of the game / staff actions. There were a lot of high points and enjoyable experiences, but ultimately the legacy of SoI remains unchanged.

The 1st player rez was due to an event staffer basically doing the equalivant of an oopsie spawn moment. If a staffer on arm spawns 50 kryl instead of 5 or 10, then they'll normally rez everyone if it was a grevious error. It is my understanding (as I was talking with staff at the time) that it was an accidental death due to staff error so they rez'd and created the policy for future issues.
If you have proof to the contrary or names / situations of other rez's beyond that 1st one please elaborate!
PS - The hillmen issues, economy, and certain characters seeming to have all the excitement is spot on.
PPS Edit - I only come to the defense in this case because when discussing ARM we have numerous named examples and fully outlined situations of staff abuse of rezzing and other aspects. So if you indeed believe there to be an issue it'd be nice to have more details then just, it is happening.
