A recurring superstition in game is that moons affect things in the world, or in the code. People say the black moon causes you to fail crafts/spells or roll lower, that the red moon makes mobs' combat rolls more effective, etc. etc.
I have always felt that all of this talk is bullshit. What is your take? Anyone know for sure?

The only thing moons affect is whether you can see or not on a clear night without a light item.

Perhaps back in the time of Lirathans / Jihaens, it would help their -meditation-

You need a visibility of 0 to see and 1 to forage Default is 3, storms reduce them by 1 incrementally starting from the lightest sand storm, the exception is tremendous storms that lock your visibility at -1 right at the END of calculations. During "late night" and "before dawn" visibility is set to -1 instead of the default 3. Jihae or Lirathu adds 1 to visibility when out, so having both moons out let's you forage even at latenight/beforedawn, assuming there is ZERO storms. Moons also help visibility in the day, of course, since they help temper the effects of storms, other than the tremendous storms that fix visibility at -1, as mentioned.
The moon cycles are easy to follow, they both (Jihae/Lirathu) set and rise at a random time of day, when it is their rising day or setting day. For Jihae the Cycle is RISING DAY, 2 X SKY DAY, SETTING DAY, 3 X NOT HERE, then repeat. For Lirathu the Cycle is RISING DAY, 4 X SKY DAY, SETTING DAY, 5 X NOT HERE, then repeat. The cycles stay the same across every month, it's just a bit weird where they begin though, Jihae has its RISING DAY on the 3rd, Lirathu on the 4th. Easy to make an excel with this info.
They're up together quite often, a total of like 70ish days out of the 231 in the month (including rising days and setting days)

It seems likely, based on recent staff comments in discord, that either the moons or this light level code has an effect on crafting success as well, potentially even indoors.

Off the face of it, that seems patently retarded to me lmfao. Afaik a lot of the crafting success stuff wasn't in the code dump, used to take it from somewhere else or something.
