It was in Mal Krian, near the whirlpool of silt. Halflings made a colony there after the floods, in case staff decided to bring them back for some plot. Eventually enough people discovered them, so staff had to make a decision whether they will return, or not. In the end, the mountains where they made their village have collapsed and they have all died for good.

As a Whiran, I teleported into all sorts of weird areas ... some that had no exits back out without magic. They seemed to be to be either storage rooms for some plot that had went on, or areas that had been built and then removed but someone forgot the no-teleport flags.

I'm surprised to hear that a whiran actually did this. It seems like teleporting into the silt sea would be instant death with its anti-magic, and the risk is real as it's about a million rooms large. Could you even get to locations 'offworld' doing this, like the elemental realms?

Do a cool secret areas even exist anymore or does the public knowledge of them automatically cause them to be abolished, and there are still places with super cool shit, and also cool loot.

I know firsthand that there are some cool areas that are temp-linked for staff plots only, your best bet of finding cool shit is to be in a clan with a staff member that wants to run Adventures.
Emergent adventures are also still possible. I 'discovered' some things on a ranger that weren't on any of the old cheater maps that got passed around. But from my limited experience the new stuff staff has added is less frequently of the magical high fantasy variety and more like creature caves and bandits and critters. I actually think the random beast den code is really cool, and I wish they'd add more things to it like tombs and shrines with different kinds of loot.
The problem with any adventuring in this game in a location not already explored is that you don't know if you've found some cool new thing to explore or an old hack and slash era fuck-you pitfall that will instantly kill you and drop fifteen poison-spitting turbo mantis ankhegs on your exploded corpse.

They've done very little for us explorer types, at least not in the time I've been playing.
It wouldn't even be hard or require much. Just assign a storyteller (one of the 50+ storytellers there seems to be) to, post reboot, go load some mid-level monster and an NPC corpse with some loot in any of the 5,000 caves or ruined wagons or whatnot. I know I'm THRILLED when I come across some stranger's corpse with a good set of gear on it. That's better than a birthday party. Having to defeat a mama gortok or some other beastie to get it ... that'd just be extra fun.

Sign me up for that pitfall.

There is a place waaay out in the sw corner of the Grey Forest where one of the rooms has been changed or damaged. Drop commands didnt work there last time I had a pc there. Some other item commands like assess and look also didnt function. Needless to say, the three wandering hidden rantarri in nearby rooms can make for a sudden panic when you cant find your weapon...
There is a side of the plane of Ruk that has a number of broken exits. I really really wanted there to be some obtuse game puzzle that might hide an elemental town or potion fruit plants, or something, so I spent upwards of 20 hours mapping it, playing zork verb hunt games, etc. If its a puzzle, I couldnt figure it out.
There is a hidden exit in one of the silt sea rooms that hides a cove with a Quit flag. Only problem is, no save flag. You cant quit out on your skimmer, so you have to stand up, log out, and pray a reboot doesnt wipe your skimmer. I think it is too far out of position for the silt rooms levitate will bypass. I think very strong dwarf with the levitate spell might be able to lighten his skimmer, pick it up, and quit there.
There is a one way path of linked rooms in the Grey Forest that conceals a growing point for wisdom modifying / methelinoc mushrooms, ten at a time. Its something like 5 one way rooms.
For a while, there was a script in some rooms near Tuluk that, under specific conditions, would spawn an npc Jihaen with a squad of soldiers and a metal lirapet. I havent been shameless enough to test to see if its still there. I do still taunt an Arm friend telling him that hes just not playing seriously enough to have a metal weapon.

There was a very cool island in the silt sea used for a staff plot some time back. Everybody involved had to retreat without exploring the whole thing due to a colony of some flying nasties. Spoilers aplenty, and I was just a low-ranking grunt moron, but there was treasure on that there island for sure, and signs of prior habitation. This is different from the islands that are on all of the cheater maps. I always wondered if it was an actual place on the grid somewhere.

So while ago I remember someone IG telling me that you can supposedly a massive ruins in the the thornwalker mountains that if you look around enough you might find small flakes of metal.
No clue if this is true or not, anyone been there?

This is where the Crimson Wind would keep all their really good loot and other goodies set-up in a tent. With the Crimson Wind’s integration into Red Storm this has probably been moved to somewhere more secure but it it’s still. I think it also has a save flag there, it probably has some loot buried there as well. Unfortunately I don’t think skimmers have take flags so they just can’t be picked up.

The meteor cave in the cactus mountains is very cool. It has a nasty debuff/drain effect that isn't seen anywhere else in the game, along with some glass you can mine that I think Kadius has some unique recipes for. There is an abandoned GMH house camp outside it now. There was really no way for any of my PCs to figure this out IC, but I am 99 percent sure that the debuff is radiation poisoning. The meteor is radioactive. The closer you get to it the more damage you take and you get lingering hp drain and symptoms consistent with radiation poisoning like nausea and burning sensations. I don't know if anybody has ever made it all the way to the meteor and survived. It could have cool shit in it. Though I vaguely remember hearing that the cool shit in it was removed after somebody posted spoilers for that plot. That is fascinating. Anyone care to share further details or experiences? Are radioactive rocks a ready to go plot to sneak into the city for mayhem? Really interested in this place and I don't won't to foic nessecarily as that may kill off a pc or two to get a 'thats fatal' answer.

I'm gonna FOIC you simply because:
It's fucking hard to mess around out there.
Without a sufficient amount of people, offensive magic, or cures and patience you'll be fighting cactus men from the start of the canyons all the way to the meteor. I one day went 'I'm gonna map out the canyons myself' then made it 4 rooms and decided 'welp I've killed 10 fucking cactus so far and lost 2 cures, I'm going home'. It sucks out there.
Random 'weird' place I've seen. In the south west of the Silt Sea there's a random room that's just 'The Silt sea' or something like that. Every other room around it is a different room, but this one room has a difference sdesc. The main description is very similar to the surrounding rooms. I'm generally of the opinion the 'neat' stuff should be hidden, so that's why I'm fine with sharing this. There ain't shit out there near that room that justifies a different room. I think its just an old coded room or something or maybe it's got something 'supah sekret' under the waves, I don't exactly suicide a character in each silt sea room to check.

No stories but:
A Dark and Winding Canyon [N, E, S, W, U, D] The wind howls in a constant frenzy through the narrow confines of this black-walled canyon, its sheer black cliffs sweeping sharply upwards towards the unattainable sky. Underfoot, the ground is lined with glittering shards of black basalt, dark as midnight. The canyon winds in all directions. The impact crater bottoms out here, leading to a hole with a gentle enough slope that allows for relatively safe passage below. In the wake of the crater seems to be a very large, smoldering mass of plantlife, with charred thorns sticking out of it. A handful of strong, silken tents has been situated around the depression, some in Salarri grey and black, some in Kadian blue and purple.
also A towering cactus runs in from the west. A spiny cactus runs in from the south. A shriveled purplish cactus runs in from the south. A towering cactus runs in from the north. A straggly, yellowing cactus runs in from the north.
