r/Mud isn’t much better. Neither is Musoapbox or any Mu* related discussion
Group. You get a bunch of people from different, sometimes competing games and that’s what you get. A bunch of drama and it depends on what kind of dookie you feel like tasing on that particular day.

Nullscan was actually banned from Musoapbox for being a troll. I am disappointed that TMC never decided to ban him as he constantly engaged in personal attacks and made every thread about himself. It was an easy decision. Even I with my anti-censorship bias would probably have banned him because on the first suspension he would have exploded and probably done a death threat or doxing which I will ban for.

should've just banned the most annoying posters (nullscan, ateraan, epilogy) and been done with it. when you have the same cast of characters just shitting up every random thread of new players introducing themselves ( www.mudconnect.com/SMF/index.php?topic=81519.0) it's time to go. mods knew this shit was going on, so i don't understand why they just sat around politely PMing people. it's hard to have sympathy for them. from reddit: |

The problem is when your most active members are shit-flinging monkeys, the prospect of banning them is equal to the prospect of having a dead forum.
Logically speaking, of course, if you ban shit-flinging monkeys from your forum, then normal people come out to post again, and activity will grow and be more positive. But there's still that initial short-term drop in activity that forum moderators everywhere seem to fear for some stupid reason.

Ateraan, Epilogy, Nullscan (who did eventually get banned), Jodah, and Darkozx were all awful people. Desharei was an obnoxious Armageddon shill but didn't reach the levels of incivility that those other five did. Ateraan was probably the site's worst shill, but Epilogy would keep drawing attention to Ateraan's game and Darkozx was an edgelord who acted mean because other people were supposedly mean to him. These are not stable people we are talking about, here.

Being unstable seems to be a feature of the community.
And that's why they should've been shown the door, repeatedly if they showed up again and again. They didn't pull that trigger and ended up quitting themselves. lol
Now they're trying to figure out how to make /r/Mud a less shitty place.

I mean, when one relies on a MUD as a form of escapism for too long, mental stability goes out the window.
But yeah, they should have been banned long ago. Epilogy and Darkozx post under different names in r/MUD. Pretty sure Ateraan does too. Spreading the cancer far and wide.

It would appear generalized places to discuss MUDs are narrowing a bit but MUDconnector's forums are being closed leaving r/mud and a few others for general discussion and promotions. I think they just revamped their website. The forums have moved to discourse.mudconnect.com/ I don't know if they ported over their old threads because I didn't participate over there. |
