Found on the r/MUD Discord channel. They are also putting out a call for new players in the midst of this """special""" summer project. Be sure to email mud@armageddon.org and CC akariel@armageddon.org with your staff applications!

Remarkable. I've learned some muds use posts like these to recruit.

Amusing. Whether they're sincere or not, this is the sign of desperation. Either they now openly mistrust their own players so much that they're attempting to link in complete outsiders, or they are really that desperate for new players. In either case it could indicate that the game is falling apart.

They probably need a fresh prospective. The GDB echo chamber makes me sad.

The Staff / Player DivideDo remember in 2015 how we were so disgusted with how the staff were acting? How it seemed like they weren't even players of the same game we played? Now they're bringing in staffers from completely different games. How did things get this bad?

I suspect there's simply noone left in the Arm community they can bring on. All the starry-eyed LauraMars types have had their chance at it. The rest have either tangled too much with the Nyrs and Nergs to ever be allowed on staff, or they've heard what it's like and wouldn't dream of wasting their time hogtied by crushing bureaucracy, or they're the kinds of people where an English professor spontaneously dies somewhere every time that player touches the keyboard. I mean, Armageddon is basically the game for people who want to call themselves roleplayers but never learned about punctuation or the difference between your and you're. I wouldn't recruit those for staff, either. With numbers in the shitter as well, maybe they just have no other options than to hire staff who never even played the game, cringeworthy as it is.

Fellow prospective staff members, it looks like your window has closed. The post in the r/MUD Discord channel is now gone.

Mehtastic, I can tell you're a smart dude. You are like, BitterFlashBack but with way more edge-lordishness.
You've brought up some valid points here on this board, but, just like with how you tried to twist Rami's story, I think your points would be more credible if you strived for more objectivity.
But I get it. Your feelings were hurt; obviously, ArmageddonMUD really sparked something in you before the bullshit. Otherwise, you wouldn't feel so pissed off/vindictive/eager to point out where those who you feel (and probably did) snub you went wrong.
I believe you should continue thinking critically about the game because, even though you believe it's beyond all hope, what the game *needs* now are critical thinkers who are not afraid of losing karma/rocking the boat in order to say that 2+2 does, in fact, equal 4.
I look at the criticisms on this board, and many of the more valid points brought up here have actually been addressed by staff. They and the playerbase read what is written here, and, sometimes, they even listen.
For them to listen even more, which is what needs to happen in a place where we can discuss shit without moderation, is to make points that won't be lost with invoked anger.
Sorry, I am telling you how to write, in a way. It's just that you HAVE made some really great points on this forum, yet your anger maybe obscures of negates some of your finer points, allowing them to be more easily dismissed by those who need to hear it *the most.*

The critical thinkers that could have helped the game abandoned it years ago. The problems with the game are numerous and the entirety of the Armageddon community is to blame for those problems, from the highest tier of the administration down to the lowest zero-karma player who knows the game is fucked but continues to log in anyway, in the hopes that somehow, the game will magically take a turn for the better. The reason why I pointed out this bizarre call for new staff is because it looked like, for a time, that Armageddon's staff realized they had finished scraping the barrel that is their community for people who care about the game. The only group I care about helping is the group of players who realize Armageddon is rigged and seek a way out, or who want to at least learn how and why the game has been rigged against them. I offer alternative games for them to go to if they want to seek a roleplaying environment that their communities actually care about developing and enhancing for the better.

You can't seriously deny that you were A-listed at an early stage?
I'll be the first to admit that the staff pretty much approved every application that I ever submitted, so I was probably subject to some sort of favoritism that I think new players should at least know exists. And you were, on the balance, very nice to non-annointed players during your tenure.
But again, A-listed. Are you denying A-list status, or are you claiming that your rise to the top was purely based upon talent and hard work?

I dunno about all that rising to the top stuff, I just saw my name and felt like posting a ridiculous gif. I guess I was pretty starry-eyed and excited when I started playing Armageddon back in 2007.
Right now it does not matter how much my eyes sparkle as I do not have time to play. But at least I can read these interesting forums!

I doubt they'll care at all unless I start posting logs from when I was last on staff or something equally egregious.
