Before being banned I had four karma total.
# of Characters (Total/Alive/Applying/Allowed): 63/1/0/1 Flags: Karma: 4 Karma Log: Added 1 karma, making 1 total, for Over two years, nothing but positive on his account, does just fine, deserving of at least 1k - 2/18/09. Set karma to 2, Very good communication with his Byn Sergeant (Hakem), flexible and accommodating with staff, takes suggestions very well, pleasure to work with, does good by his minions. - 9/11/10. Set karma to 3, For Roleplay. - 11/06/11. Set karma to 4, For magick RP. - 11/06/ 11.
After 2011 or so I rarely played a character that I really got drawn into. I felt like the game slowly was declining in plots I actually wanted to be involved in. Most people are tavern sitting fancies nowadays who didn't like my rough around the edges Byn types. I also played several mages in the past six years or so, some meek and willing to be pushed around, while some who were egomaniacs who threatened commoners regularly.
I don't feel like staff paid much attention to any of my characters after a certain point. Were they watching my roleplay? Maybe. Did it conform to the "new way" staff seem to be rewarding karma? No.
Everyone roleplays differently. Staff only seems to support certain players and prefers specific roleplaying methods.

Armageddon has always had a slightly unhealthy level of expectations for players when it comes to sticking with their characters, one that doesn't really match the way the actual game works. In short, the people in charge have traditionally felt that keeping your character for as long as humanly possible is the #1 metric of your worth as a player. And then, when you stick to your character long enough to achieve the sort of success you were hoping to achieve when you started it, they force store you. Because god forbid your character amass too much power after hours and hours of time sunk into the game.

And then, when you stick to your character long enough to achieve the sort of success you were hoping to achieve when you started it, they force store you. Because god forbid your character amass too much power after hours and hours of time sunk into the game. And to add to that, 100% of the time that there's a conflict, the staff expect the player to back down. Expect. Merely expressing reticence is viewed as disobedience. Attempts at negotiation seem to annoy them. They're not interested in compromise. If a player, willfully or not, does something with a character that doesn't fit the established narrative, the expectation is that the player will become apologetic and back down. And this is supposed to be an open world, adversarial game? But yeah, that's one of the things that bothers about the game, is the fact that the player is always expected to back down, and if we all come up a little short on the bill the player is just flat out expected to come up with the difference.
