My pal Romy recently quit the game after having been mega fucked by staff on more than one occasion. While he is a relatively good guy, I myself am not so much Here is his post in its entirety, as we all know it will be deleted by Nyr: You didn't wish up and your PC was doing something stupid. I think you and I both know I'm well versed in guerilla warfare, as evidenced with my past pc first mentioned. I apologize, but I kindly disagree in that what I did was a calculated risk, not stupid. This, I do take issue with. No character "smacked my like a bug". I was transferred by an immortal into a room where I fell endlessly, all after having slipped off unnoticed and gotten away to an area relatively far away from where I did "something stupid". I also do not appreciate your snark. "We're sorry the world reacted in a way you did not like" is not an apology, but rather more of a condescending sneer. You are well known for this behavior on the GDB, so I don't believe that is really an issue that can be addressed and in turn lead to an iota of success. Again, let me reiterate: the world did not react, an immortal did. And, since you've decided to pepper this thread with your beloved snark, let's take this a step further and discuss doing "something stupid". You and I both know you played a certain pc I killed. How do I know this? Because the gdb handle under which you used for both the clan and discussions outside of the clan forum had the same voice and level of snark you as Nyr deliver to the boards on a consistent basis. Why is this a problem? As your alternate GDB handle, you consistently engaged in trollish behavior and on more than one occasion spoke in the thread as Nyr to warn people about using certain language or offering trollish comments. Do you not see the inconsistency here? Is this not a conflict of interest? This is another issue I am at odds with.I know you were upset over your pc's death, and I understand why you were, but Nyr, what you did leading up to that death was outright foolish, among other things I should not address for fear of delving into IC information. If you'd like to discuss this further, feel free to email me and we can discuss this particular issue at length. This may not be following the thread's original intent anymore, but it relates somewhat in that the above mentioned things are what in fact did turn me off from the game. I am also aware this post will likely be deleted. I do hope you can restrain yourself from doing so. I'd like for this game to improve even if I have decided to remove myself from the equation, and I feel that having healthy discussions can bring about a better product for prospective and current gamers. -- Romy Indrawan gdb.armageddon.org/index.php/topic,45416.msg769497.html#new Please discuss. And yes, I will tell you Nyr's alternate account later in the discussion because unlike Romy, I'm a dick and don't give a shit.

Yeah I agree with Doubt. Trying to snipe at a massive army of doom who can crush you in an instant were it not for an abundance of spam to let you escape is indeed stupid. Especially when you run right through the room they were in and fail your sneak.

The death wasn't the issue. Romy was cool with the death, just disheartened that he was essentially killed by staff yet again in a way that could have been done much, much better.
I'll throw the stories up here later so everyone can see, i.e. from the nessalin slaying to what recently happened.

Oooo boy, this will take some time to explain.
This will be a long post detailing two deaths, so bear with me here:
Romy had this pc named "Gowan". He was nothing special, just a regular ole assassin. As a new player Romy sucked hardcore. I took it upon myself to explain some basics to him and how the game works, and over a period of time the character truly developed into an amazing person.
Gowan was a necropheliac, meaning he loved him some dead booty (the fresher the better).
He also worked for Kurac as a member of the Fist. After some time, it became readily apparent that Gowan was developing into something of a force, so to speak. He was recruited into the secretive "Archives" unit wherein he was tasked with carrying out various missions and the like. Eventually, after having succeeded in a number of smaller missions, Gowan was tasked with becoming the proprietor of the Mantis, Kurac's watering hole in the 'rinth.
It was here that Gowan truly began to shine, I feel. Sadly, however, his life would be cut short due to the following:
1) Rissa, a Kuraci psionicist (played by Nyr) was in talks with Borsail over destroying the Mantis. Once Gowan found out, this infuriated him.
2) After a series of discussions in which Gowan pleaded for Rissa to fight for Kurac and save the Mantis, it all came to a head. Gowan met with Rissa in Kurac's argosy and pleaded one last time for her to cease this nonsense. Rissa claimed that the Mantis was not even a profitable venture (which I find absolutely ludicrous, seeing as how this establishment is their foothold on the 'rinth and allowed them to corner the market with regard to spice). Upon the conversation finishing, Gowan slipped his knives out under the table and stabbed the bitch dead. She was, to Gowan, for all intents a purposes a traitor. (Romy was kind enough to offer the log if you'd like to see it in its entirety, plus the gruesome aftermath following Rissa's demise)
3) Gowan then went in full Wolverine mode and systematically sought out and eliminated each and every player who had a hand in seeking to dismantle and level the Mantis. A Fale noble (played by fantasywriter IIRC) was the first victim -- he was wasted in public for all to see. (logs if you so wish to see)
4) Before the matter reached the senate and was voted on, Gowan then sought to cut the head off the snake, so to speak. He went after the Borsail who was championing this venture and blasted his ass as well with the help of a psionicist from the 'rinth (logs if you wish to see).
5) This apparently pissed off the wrong person (nessalin) because the Borsail noble was a former member of staff.
6) Gowan, upon returning to Luir's to report what happened, was given a harsh talking to and killed by his direct superior (i.e. slayed by nessalin) because he killed an employee who was not even lifesworn.
Conclusion: Rissa was committing treason, no ifs ands or buts about it. Gowan took care of the problem. He was eliminated for this.
Romy was not upset he died, as he had told colleagues on more than one occasion he would be killed by none other than Kurac one day, and that was how he wanted it. He was loyal to the core.
Recent HRPT:
I have to give you the story here since Zul was immediately banned upon Nyr's response.
Zul Ryiel, an insanely strong Soh Lanah Kah ranger, took a few potshots at some Allanaki soldiers.
Upon slipping off and making his way back to the Gem (Zul never spammed back, I saw the logs of him pausing to hunt near the edge of Muarki lands to see if any others had passed through), Zul sat down to get his breath back.
He was then summarily transferred into a room far above Muarki lands and allowed to plunge to his death.
Herein is the entirety of the conversation between Romy and Adhira:
"You transferred me -- not cool
I would have preferred by the hand of another player."
To which Adhira responded by saying:
Understood.
It is a shame that option was not available. The thread on the gdb mentioned wishing up prior to taking any action, you did not do this. Unfortunately you instead choose to attack a group that was lead [sic] by a Red Robe, one of the most powerful beings in the Known World. It responded in kind to you interrupting its preparations.

Especially when you run right through the room they were in and fail your sneak. I do believe you're mixing up Zul with someone else, seeing as how he had master sneak/hide Reading over his log, there were other desert elves in the area.

Unless you're referring to the very end of the deal when a wall of text entered the room, wherein Zul attempted to sneak out (he was already overburdened apparently).
Either a ton of people entered the Gem or Zul was transferred back to the group, THEN transferred up into the air once he snuck away. Alas, I forget.

it's retarded as hell that staff have to micromanage every aspect of the game and be informed of every minute event and players must wish up/put in a long-term request in a game that's supposed to be "player driven" and have a focus on players making their own fun. it's dumb as hell and shows a lack of creativity that the only answer to this was slay the player. the imm-played red robe couldn't have, idk, erected a wall of sand? hurled a lightning bolt as a message to fuck-off? there's a million and one things that could have happened beyond let's slay a PC.
there's like a million and one things that you wouldn't know outside of the GDB. i haven't looked at the website since the old one, but it wasn't posted anywhere the rules on family members, the banning of slave characters, the policies on creation of new clans (never gonna happen), etc. i just pulled up the rules page now on the new site, and there's this:
wasn't rape banned from the MUD years ago? yet the rules page implies that it's still acceptable if given consent.
for a staff that constantly asks its players send it reports and communicate and will store certain ones if they don't, they sure are terrible at communicating even the barest of information in an accessible medium.

So some assassin killed a few people and then got whacked and some Soh attacked a unit of Allanakis then got whacked by a Red Robe? So what? Tough beans. Seems like staff simply reacted to a metaphorical mouse nibbling at lion's tail. Shit happens and yes staff can and will be pricks. I find it amazing the assassin got as far as he did. I've had characters killed by staff in the good ole days for just looking at someone funny yet I didn't bitch and whine. The Soh thing is a little fucked up but he did attack a Red's force and Reds probably have some skills like transfer which will kill the fuck out of some dumbass Soh.

Gowan got as far as he did because it was a well orchestrated plan. What's funny is he was reprimanded after the fact for a lack of communication, even though I instructed him to keep in contact with Rahmi and nechomachus (IIRC Rahmi supported Gowan).

So when the p.c. Akari got insta-killed walking out the One-eyed Red robe's vortex, that was Romy's P.C. that did it? Do the Soh defend the Gypsies or are they just into protecting Tuluk from Allanak?

No, Romy's character was at the Gem, then transferred into midair above Muarki lands.
The reason he even took a few shots at the Allanaki forces was because he wanted to do something.
The immortals staffing the Soh have zero fucks to give about the tribe or desert elves in general.
In 6 months of playing in the tribe, Zul had immortal interaction -once- and was called a tew (child) by the animated npc Drasht because Wug, Reiloth or whatever his name is is too much of a dunce to know who's an adult in the tribe and who isn't.
tl;dr No, the vortex pc wasn't Romy. Soh don't defend gyps or Tuluk.
The Red Robe was flagged as a sentinel as well I believe (or no hit at the least) because Zul fired an arrow at it and missed (Zul had 90 archery plus gloves and a brace, he never missed).
Be the change = lol

Cookin' up plots to slay long lived imm pets was always one of my favorite pass times. However once Ysania got resurrected twice I gave up. Let them have their pets, just enjoy the game for yourself and your own crowd you hang with.
