New stuff:
Basically things they were banning and moderating people for that wasn't set down in actual rules. I find it mildly amusing that there's still nothing here that really covers why DesertMan was banned.

These rules too will be selectively enforced. I guess it's good for staff to rehash them, it gives them a chance to read them and have them fresh in their mind.

Well, I'm not sure what to say. (The obvious is that I still haven't violated any rules, even based on the new rules. I'm still only guilty of not agreeing with the predominant social and political opinion there.)
They didn't do what I wanted them to do, but, at least they did something I guess?
If nothing else, their Stalin-esque "Criticizing the State is punishable by death.", publicly stated and verified mentality here only reinforces my newly found realization that me not being part of that community in terms of using the GDB publicly any longer is a good thing.
It's still a great game and I will still play it when I feel like it. There are still great staffers there that unfortunately come out smelling like shit because of how close they are to the turd-pile.
I just can't say I'm horribly disappointed to not be part of that increasingly creepy cult-ish situation anymore.
I look at it this way. If I showed up to a tabletop game and the Dungeon Master treated his players like that or spoke to them like that would I want to stay at that table and try and make friends with him?
No I wouldn't. I wouldn't want to speak to someone like that who treated a game and their players that way.
There's no reason I should in this situation either.
The knee-jerk reaction is of course to boycott the game, but, I played the game for a long time without posting on the GDB and I enjoyed it arguably more during those times.
This new silly echo chamber of "follow our social agenda or you don't belong" that is taking over that community only makes that increasingly more true.
If anything, seeing this posted only makes me feel better about the situation, so, at least I got something out of it.
I call it a win.

I call it a win. everything post hypernews changed the gdb in ways that made it easier and easier for ooc popularity contests and groupthink to grow and taking out anon posting was the final nail in the coffin ur just the latest and most telling casualty of that slow sad evolution, but im glad u unwittingly forced their hand by contiuing to be honest and polite and follow the rules when u disagreed ness is the only one of those 3 producers that could get away with fucking u so blatantly and it has everything to do with his unwritten rule that longterm vets are exempt from the common courtesy and bennie of the doubt they tout to newer players to keep them around  this goes twice over if u played before they even started putting on that facade in the first place and it says shitloads about why nessie is brutal with older vets like u (u can speak out, make honest comparisons, and put into context shit he desperately wants newer players to either not know or forget altogether) u mix that vet status with knowing exactly how to toe the line and u eventually find them arbitrarily moving that line past ur foot just to spite u for having any influence that doesnt reinforce their narrative #thxnessbama |
