So, sorcerers/preservers really cherish these as they continually feed them and are not destroyed outright, much the same that a preserver wants a viv shield for themselves eh?

What does the Tree of Life do? It was an actual green tree, but it should be symbolic. Very hardcore partizans of the templerate would be shown that tree, a couple of mine were shown. There was a weird creature protecting the tree and to be honest, first time I thought the templar was preparing to erase me. With this out of the way... WTF?! What happened to the Tan Muark outpost? How could imms allow something happen to their most favorite clan? How did the tree of life wither?! How did Lirathans allow it?!

What does the Tree of Life do? How could imms allow something happen to their most favorite clan? Seems like it was a deliberate, OOCly-motivated action to do away with the perceived favoritism of the gypsies. While the intent wasn't bad, what was bad came in the form of toxic attitudes held by certain staff who did this. Yes, they destroyed a long-held point of grievance of the playerbase, teh gypsies, but at least a couple of staff involved in this had grown so powerful that they felt as though they could just treat people like shit. Rules were also arbitrarily enforced, and, coupled with aforementioned toxic attitudes, staff fueled dissent in a way that the Tan Muark had never come close to. Yeah, people always had something to say about gypsies and favoritism, but how at least a couple of members of staff were acting was far, far more damaging to the game than the gypsies ever could have hoped to be. In short, they made a show of striking down at favoritism, but it did not outweigh or make up for how some newer and veteran players alike were being treated. Those people are gone from staff, now, and the current admins seem to acknowledge that not everything was cool with how those who came before them were handling PR, which resulted in a decrease in the game's population, especially in relation to veteran players. Nyr's mistake was that he believed he could treat anyone anyway he wanted to, case closed. What he thought, though, is that everything would still be okay, because how could these dumb players ever do anything to him at all? He did shit like write bad poetry while banning people. I'm not the best person in the world, but I do know this: Good people don't do shit like that. Good leaders, especially, do not do shit like that. Just, no. You are in a role of responsibility over a few hundred people; do not mock them, write condescendingly towards them, or otherwise insult them, in private or in public. It's not good leadership, period. Then, jcarter made these forums, and, even though there was an initial and brutal backlash, followed by at least one more of these "crackdowns," it allowed players to see that, no, they weren't alone in being treated like total pieces of shit. The gas lighting became harder when person after person after person started posting interactions with Nyr, and, eventually, he stepped down. Since then, overhauls have been made, and there have been far, far, FAR fewer accounts of staff members acting in a manner unbecoming of a real leader. It's not perfect, there's still work to do, but I think the game is better than it was two or three years ago. So, that's what happened to the gypsies.

Unfortunately after Nyr, came another staffer. Who while not as bad as Nyr, was also grdually corrupted by the position. He was a great player, but certain personal beliefs, a tendency of ethical flexibility, and on frequent occasion dealing with players who did deserve a 'harsh' approach, gradually turned the person into an acidic asshole that lashed at people who did not deserve it. While not bad as Nyr, he wasnt great either and eventually once the opposition built up, dissapeared. Its human relations. Assholes happen . Especially in muds that are full of intelligent, sometimes brilliant, but often socially inept people. In general, after that epoch, things have been improving staffside. There is a definite increase in content generation, player relations, etc. Not perfect, but nothing is. 98% of staff these days are just old players doing what they can/capable/willing to do. Time will show how much of an affect this will have.

Look, they (staff) are still a bunch of uninspired, boring losers with no idea of what they're doing. They're happy catering to the ~20 or ~30 (that's being generous) people who still manage to log in every evening to fuck around for a couple of hours. The player numbers speak for themselves (the game is deader than ever), no matter how hard they try and conflate/misrepresent data on the GDB or you persistently try to preach your insane level of cognitive dissonance.
As a friend of mine has said, "Nobody has the passion anymore to build or create genuinely new things."
And no, the current "plots" aren't interesting in the slightest. It's a lazy circus for the handful of idiots who are still paying attention.
