this almost got me at first til i remembered they posted this a few mins into their new years, but funny thing is some of these could easily be within the range of shit theyd change in the game, like look, wizlist, ask ur staff, house tor, and spice. given how theyve fucked up some guilds already, i wouldnt be surprised if they did go ahead with the changes to ranger too gdb.armageddon.org/index.php/topic,50936.msg937238/ "Greetings, In the interests of keeping the playerbase informed we would like to announce a number of changes that are occurring now or within the next week. Psionics will be phased out and the psionicist guild removed. Note this will only work in the cities and settlements. Look character will be treated as an hemote from the next release. The Wizlist has been updated. Due to the concern over the new magick subguilds we will be removing them from the game. This will give us time to review the place of magick in Armageddon and decide if we wish to reimplement it and how. Staff will be doing a regular 'Ask your staff' post. Each staff member will take a turn posting a discussion topic where they will answer questions from the playerbase. Rangers are being removed from the game, and being replaced by four subclasses: Stalker, Rider, Herbalist and Bow Assassin. Rough circle drills now result in double skill-gain for dwarves. House Tor will be reopened. Interested applicants should submit their character concepts with a name that makes sense if said as one word, e.g. Trai Tor. The price of spice is being rebalanced to encourage its use." |

Apparently Nyr himself is now an April Fool's joke, or something, which is difficult to parse from the position of a human on Earth. Clearly staff understands jokes no better than they understand game design or storytelling.

wow, staff also put nyr's name into things as a joke like we've been doing for a while?
what an odd coincidence. if i didn't know better i would almost think that staff are coming to offsite boards and frequently reading them despite all their posts saying they tote don't look here and couldn't care less about what happens on this site.

I find it really, really weird that they did that nyr thing with everyone's names. Are they trying to suggest they have a sense of humor and can even poke fun at themselves? But even that would be just weird and awkward. It'd be like an office manager with a reputation for being ornery and rude, jokingly pretending to be ornery and rude as part of a gag (failing to realize that no one would see the humor in it).
