Well. My opinion has just plummeted. I clicked the link then gave thought for 30 seconds and closed that window. I've read that wiki before though and I have some distant recollection of what's on it. It's not very harmful to the game to have "some" of that info released. Though if access to java scripts were released, that's a bit of a sad loss of the mystery.
Having said that, this has crossed the line. Fuck legality. Just a simple matter of respect. Pulling it down is useless, so was removing the page with the IRL addresses of the imms. Once it's out in the internet, it is 'out'. Talk shit about Nergal all you like, fact of the matter is that at this point, if I was in staff shoes right now and I knew for a fact that a 'single' any person who had the lack of respect to read it was playing the game, I would shut the fucking game down. Fuck your enjoyment. Fuck my enjoyment. Fuck anybody's opinion. If you have such a grand lack of respect for the entirety of staff and the game creators as whole, then fuck ... you. I would be fine with some 12-16 year olds doing this. Fine. Whatever. But as adult people, you should be accumulating a sense of self worth. A sense of integrity. Your own personal integrity that no one else could possibly hamper. Only you yourself. And you've done just that.
I know this will probably cause a major loss of players. But in all honesty? I think the only suitable reaction from staff to such a breach of trust, would be to shut down the game for let's say 3 months. And if it causes the death of the game in its entirety, then fuck it. What's a point of spending your creativity, life, passion, and spirit playing with people who hate your guts.

So I went on a date with my wife for one night and the whole fucking community explodes and implodes in like a 12ish hour time span.
Jesus...

This sort of thing gets people upset in the moment, but in a week nobody will remember. Nothing has changed, it's just disappointing. I'm glad it was taken down though.
Qwerty, the idea of staff seeing this and deciding to pack up the game and go home? That would more immature than blindly posting a bunch of personal info because you didn't think to sift through it first.

Listen, I dunno I didn't even get to see that shit.
All I know is the number one thing I hate about Arm's community is that it feels like your self worth as person, on an OOC level is judge whether you get to know cool little secrets about the game.
Not everyone gets to dedicate their life to some text game to maybe on a off chance be deemed worthy by a bunch of nerds just know some simple secrets.
This shit is like high school and I hate it.

What's a point of spending your creativity, life, passion, and spirit playing with people who hate your guts. Seriously? why would someone quit the game because someone else leaked a massive document of sensitive info? The game is going to suffer a MAJOR loss of players now? Really? a major one? I don't think even one player will quit over this. And if you want the game to be shut down for 3 months there's a simple solution. stop playing for 3 months yourself. Not a single thing exposed has any impact on any current plot lines. so tektolnes is actually his father but actually his son and has his head or some shit. who cares. so oash was originally founded by a defiler. You're actually surprised? and borsail had a secret drovian. I can tell you for a fact that that npc no longer exists. All of the npcs at that time were plagiarized straight out of GoT. they even had a lannister....sorry, i mean borsail midget who was suspiciously a lot like tyrion. the Little Birdie drovian NPC couldn't more obviously have been varys, who in the book referred to his network of spies as "the little birds". there was enough criticism lodged against that pearl clusterfuck of GoT plagiarism that they rewrote the whole damn script thankfully. I would side with the veil of mystery argument if it were a truly up to date document. That would be pretty uncool, I agree. But all of this stuff is just so ancient it reminds me of my mantis PC who used to hang out in the Gaj.

People are really butthurt over this? Seeing this stuff wouldn't effect gameplay in any way because it's sooooo old. It's almost like it doesn't even matter now.
I'm glad I got a look at it just so I can say: y'all ain't miss nothin.

Most of the people asshurt about it are asshurt on principle, more than anything else-- mostly because being asshurt for any other reason would just be silly.

I'm glad I got a look at it just so I can say: y'all ain't miss nothin. this. there's a whole lot of hysterics and stage 5 meltdowns over nothing. nobody is being doxxed nor will anybody be doxxed. nobody is getting harassed nor having their irl brought into it. what's here is essentially the same outdated helpfiles available to everyone and spoilers that are on the board. but w/e, if staff want to have public fits of the vapors and players want to pearl-clutch over the horror of what's essentially the secret details of a custom D&D setting being leaked go nuts.

gdb.armageddon.org/index.php/topic,50667.0.html They're going to use this as an excuse to rebuke criticism? Never let a crisis go to waste, guys. Typical Alinsky playbook, when you look at it.

Typical Alinsky playbook, when you look at it. lol. nobody gives a shit about the pages related to staff in there. nobody is saying 'WOW GIMME ACCESS TO THAT WIKI SO I CAN LOOK UP ADHIRA!!!!'. people are literally reading about the secret backstory to when this one wizard fought against the minion of another evil wizard. jesus from the way that post is written you'd think we were launching underground guerilla campaigns against the MUD or doing something beyond 'talking about it in a separate forum'.

I hope no one goes to the game's facebook group and finds the real life names of the staff members and then does background checks on them, finding out all their dirty little secrets. Someone who wanted to cause trouble could do a vast amount. The info leaked in the wiki is really a non-issue, just a reason to act slighted. Maybe they just feel violated and I think it's a healthy lesson in humility.

Yea, that sucks. They're going to use it now... forever. Staff can and will now make as many unobstructed Regressive changes they can and no one not dear criticize them cause "PERSONAL INFO WAS POSTED SHIT LORD!" They've got a free club to bash this place and I think that's shitty but eh... If they choose that path, they'll kill Armageddon themselves and will blame Jcarter.org for that one time they posted on accident "Personal info". While white knighting themselves while they held all the 'precious sekrets' that you were never ever ever going to learn about ever ICly anyways because there is literal zero avenues to learn those. In other words, Ironically this was a boon for staff because they now have no concerns of cares of criticism, it's once again THEIR play ground and you should be happy the port is open Shit lord.
