It's not like I have anyone else to talk about the game with. I have been to enough AA and NA meeting to know that you get over what hurts you by discussing it.

True, you do have a point, Malken has been, at times, rather uh, trollish, in ways that even I found abhorrent. I can't recall the specific posts, though I'm not sure he realized the gravity of the situation... he may have said something different if he had a better understanding.

Yeah, I said my piece. The posts where Malken repeatedly antagonizes Kronibas about smoking weed come to mind. I've rarely been paying attention to the GDB, just off and on, because I know if I get too big a dose of that shit I will flip out, flame some fuckers, and get banned again.

I'm not even 100% sure Malken is staff in the first place. One dude's word here without any real proof? I mean, I would have snapped a screenie of the GDB post but that's just me.

On the other hand, this sort of dialogue probably proves the imm's biases against these boards. It's been obvious that staff members are being pulled from the ironically harsh and severe GDB personalities over the years, just by the way they maintain their dialogue; however, I haven't seen one that's willing to blend the line between their staff account and their player account when they ascend. It's probably because they're afraid they'll carry along their baggage, just like Kronibas here is trying to make Malken carry.

I'm not saying those sorts of biases are cause for disregarding this board entirely -- you'd be foolish to just write off the opinions of 10-12 people who still play your 70-player obscure internet text game. You'd be absolutely irresponsible for doing that. Yet it's clear that it's not players who pick the staff; and it's further clear that there's no rules or guidelines on the staff side to treat players like earnest human beings, else Nyr and his ilk would have gotten the boot a long time ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if Malken did get the ascendance, since he's basically got all of the snark and lack of compassion in his persona that the rest of the staff members seem to have from the personal dialogues I've seen. I'm not talking about GDB debates: you can judge a person far deeper through private correspondence than these random facets of argument, and I'll call out Euronymos as being particularly terribly absorbed in his own caustic persona for the sake of this example.

Basically, let's see what the new staffie's dialogue is like, and if he's got a baseline of respect for the folks that play this game more than he does, have contributed more and derived more enjoyment out of it than he has. It's not like malkeninthemiddle has been here to deny it, yet. 

Which, is a shame to me, because I think I could seriously rock a mul or nilazi role.

if a strange shadow is who I think they are - admittedly, I'm horrible at that guessing game - then I don't think they would have shared that information if it wasn't true.

What I have been saying all along is that there are double standards when it comes to how people are treated, and malken making staff is clear proof of that.

You raise him up to staff while slashing other's karma. Despite the fact that he has literally been rude and ugly beyond belief, far more than even some of the bigass middle finger posters like jkarr and oldtwink... combined. It's that kinda shit.
