Someone asked what the new Byn rank is, of course staff's response is find out IC.
So those of us who can't find out IC, what's the new rank so we can keep it in mind for future rolls?

It's not a "new rank" AFAIK. More of it's an extension of a current rank.
Call me out if I'm wrong on this, but IIRC there's been a change to the Byn documentation that allows for Troopers / First Troopers to take on small little "contacts" on their own, by their own terms, with a little kickup to the Sergeant.
So it's less of a new rank, and more of a new ability for Troopers to have. This is to deal with the times when there's no active Byn Sergeant, and to probably cut down on the amount of small fetch quest things going on that previously deserved a Sergeant's attention throughout.

It's exactly that. So that the Byn isn't always such an expensive option.

They added a new rank above Trooper but below First trooper, for the purpose of taking contracts that aren't large and doesn't need a bunch of other Bynners with them.
