Kryl are stupid and should all died there.
I can understand staff not wanting players just wantonly changing the ecology of an area or removing an environmental antagonist of an area.
At the same time, the fact it NEVER happens is kind of annoying and makes the world static.
Also Kryl are dumb, couldn't they of brought in another Mantis Clutch? For the north?

There is also the possibility that staff never expected him to go through with it. Maybe you're right, but I don't know or care what staff's motivation was. It looks the same from the player's perspective either way.

The continued existence of the kryl has been a retarded idea. They're an ecological and imminent threat to Tuluk. The ruler of Tuluk is a sorcerer / Philip K Dick style precog (except without the lack of conscious thought) with an army of elite kung fu mindbenders and a Legion of supposedly militarily superior soldiers. There is literally no excuse for them to still exist since a couple weeks after Arm 2.0 got canned.
I genuinely don't care the staff made the mistake of leaving the queen in game under the assumption nobody could kill her. Insect queens die all the time IRL. Make a fucking new one. Don't retcon the one who bit the dust.

Don't retcon the one who bit the dust. The kryl had their moments, but they never made sense to me given the rest of the ecology, nor the power of Muk Utep and Co. I think if the staff truly desired a 2nd-rate "Aliens" presence in the game, they needed to design something more credible - not as obvious, not as accessible, and certainly not as centralized. A "predator in the night" kind of thing, something an army could never pin down and exterminate, or at least not without great difficulty. And a strong IC counter to Muk Utep, be it some kind of kryl anti-psi going on, a specific racial blessing that they can't be detected by the Sight, or whatever. They could have been the thing that goes bump in the night, and occasionally snatching reckless/foolish PCs at odd points in the forest and along the road. I don't think I'm alone in saying I would have enjoyed the added element of horror to the mix. I personally find the idea of a fearsome PC character taking the staff's dare and raising them a forced retcon morbidly amusing. Hilarious, even.

Oh, individually they're fun, sure. I'm sure many of us have played "tag" with our eyeless friends. I'm more talking from a world-perspective.

Don't retcon the one who bit the dust. I completely agree. That said, there have been at least two staff run plots where the lirathans had psionic contact with the queen(s). I think the kryl are intended as a Tuluki ally. That said, there is a possible way to get kryl removed from the game (and probably get an account karma docked). Anyone want to run a nilazi that runs around with a pack of undead kryl?

I think the Kryl queen took over Muk Utep and now Tuluk is an alley of the Kryl queen, hence Tuluk's closure.
Edited to add: Though I think the kryl moving into the Grey Forest is too much. I'd rather the ATV elven tribe, or someone, or something else than another kryl hive moving in to fill the gap the halflings left. Adding kryl to the Grey Forest was a missed opportunity to add something new and different.

Removing halflings was a missed opportunity, in my opinion.

Well, I now have a new favorite sdesc for the sheer wow of it. The -supple-, -krath-tressed- -lass-. There is no part of that, that isn't beautiful in a horrible sort of stereotypical way.

And wouldn't you know it, she's Tuluki. I love this game sometimes.

That f-me(who can say truly, but that desc leads me in a direction), is a rare breed, for sure. That's prime cut, mount it on the wall f-me there. Some sort of strange hybrid between two features of krath kissed, and soft tressed, and supple. Truly one of a kind. The albino of lions to hunt. Or buffalo. Either way. I don't know who she was, and I'm not judging her roleplay, but that desc is awesome. In a terrible way. But still awesome. Yea.
