So consider this board contain within in its membership a diverse lively group of individuals who have various levels of 'clout' on an obscure text game.
Spring boarding off an another discussion "cool kids club" came up.
So with out throwing wild impossible to prove accusations of favoritism (cause "U Mad Bro" is boring), let us discuss the cool kids, the cool things they did to get into the group, and whether it was an entirely bad thing.
A member of the not so cool kids, easily forgettable, low karma scum segment of the Armageddon Shadow Society Major Association of Denizens (or A.S.S M.A.D. for short). I'm entirely unsure of what the cool kids club was like and how its rewards was distributed and how much Clout a Cool Kid could have.
Is it strickly Karma based? OR Perhaps Kronibas fall was a reflect that time with in the Cool Union Nation Team for Staff (Or C.U.N.T.S. for short) is a rather fickle thing depending on staff at the time.
Genuinely is simply being entertaining? Is it being obedient? Is it Mud sex? Is it the APM's? or perhaps sexual favors traded at the APMs?
Please enlighten me or us, about the Cool Kids.
Or complain
Or post dank memes.

i can't tell you how many of the people who adopt "find out IC" on the GDB as a mantra have shamelessly shared info about world-shaking ongoing plots w/me

I don't believe it's karma based, and I don't think there's just one "club". More like a set of cliques, some which are loosely associated.

I think it was different ways of communicating they shared with each others. The APM and IRC were the ones that gathered the biggest chunk. I think it trickled down from those two to AIM and other chat services. Just knowing that this group existed was toxic. But the toxicity was more in the knowing, because you knew that no matter what you tried to go IG didn't make a difference if the group had other plans. Same group that goes on the GDB now saying find out ic some of them were the worst plot-sharers ever. Some of them still play. Some of those people have lots of karma. It's ridiculous.

I had a long post queued up, but found myself deleting parts of it, then going back and writing something else, etc. So, I'll just stick with this: AIM. A lot.

So what I'm getting, sadly, that to Join C.U.N.T.S. 'Cool kids club'. One doesn't even need to be a particularly good Rp'er? Just download a shitty instant messaging service that we all used in junior high?
There is no pepe to describe this feel.

I still get blindsided all the time. I will sometimes talk about things after the fact, because let's face it, we're not telling our RL friends about this stuff. Well, I have tried a few times, but I get mostly blank looks.
I wouldn't want to know about ongoing plots, what's the fun in that?
I've a few stories that I unfortunately can't share without upsetting other parties, but I can affirm that I've been clueless to events in progress or just plain wrong.
I've also felt that lots of the cheating that goes on over AIM is disconnected from staff entirely, and propped up by people who just have to 'win' the game. But that's my personal suspicion. To be honest, I just assumed most of you get up to that kinda shit, but that's an unfair accusation, isn't it?

Well if I may speak for the Shadow Speak/Mumble/Discord.
None of us have engaged in behavior I would deem 'cheating'. Hell most of the time we spend trolling each other. OR just discussing random stuff not related to Armageddon. I think we in fact, discuss plots from time to time, theories, commentary but I can't think of any time, the core group of the shadow speakers, used OOC knowledge to 'win' armageddon. We might be making fun of your terrible character description, or being overly judgmental of your role play, but who isn't?
Now if talking about the meta/code/how to effectively skill grind or shit like that. Yea, we do, but its already on the board and its fucking FAR from cheating at this point (The vets/staff have been doing it FOR YEARS).
I guess I mean by 'cool kids" the ones with lots of Karma, who always get to insert themselves in plots and always have lots of backing on the GDB. Seem to be in the 'clique', at lest the right clique.
I always feel upon first encounters, messages buzz around AIM, to see if they know you, or you're known. Like a high school gossip club. I don't get on aim, so I don't know.
I never thought about finer 'plot' details being shared about, maybe we can't always chalk plot killing's on staff? Impossible to prove accusations, but it does make one wonder.
I always have a feeling the Armageddon Experience was different for those "In the Know".

Yet, if that wasn't shared. It would of gone mostly unknown... forever. Sometimes the need for IC secrecy, hides some of the most interesting parts of Armageddon. I guess it ultimately rides on people who will abuse the OOC knowledge to 'win'. "Find out IC." Does sound like a less polite 'fuck you, outsider' though.

It depends on who is saying it. It could be a guarded veteran player whose only edge in the game is knowing how to twink, or it could be someone like Moe who I read as just speaking for the benefit of the player with a question -- find out for yourself, it's more fun. The gdb has a lot of tired phrases, but let me just say ... The gdb and the game are only related in the sense that if you fuck up there, your account will take the punishment. Otherwise, if you can have the flexibility of mind to look past the weekly vaguebook "I'll never forgive the Klingons for the death of my son" post ...
