Uh, Darksun is up and running, I just don't have access to approve characters. Del, I haven't tried applying for another character since the first time. Do you happen to know if char gen is still resulting in that weird loop at the very end of it?

Del's Darksun game should just be open chargen. There just isn't the volume of players that would warrant a return on it.
Hell, I don't even think Armageddon should have an approval system. Everything should be automated. If you have the karma to play something, you should be able to play it regardless. There would only need to be a minimum 24 hour lockout from the same account creating a new character. The more karma intensive races/classes would have longer lockouts. You can make a sorc, but if you go off and die stupidly, you might have to wait 6 months to make another.
Anyone with Karma 1 shouldn't need the hand-holding. Meanwhile, the 24-hour lockout gives PLENTY of time to weed out the bad apples.
The next logical step is for people to complain about quality control or bad sdescs/descs. To that I say:
1) Armageddon has let some really shitty sdescs/descs through even with approvals. 2) Who cares if someone misuses an oxford comma in their desc with like 3 people playing the game. 3) If you get enough people playing the game, to where people actually want to volunteer staff it, then there are numerous, easy and time-efficient ways to deal with bad descriptions without having to critique it yourself.
If someone has a really atrocious sdesc/desc, then it should be child's play, if any staff is online, to simply notice (or have it brought to their attention) and that person can be flagged and sent to a tutorial description room. That room can provide more in-depth detail about what's expected in a desc/sdesc. It would then allow them to rewrite their desc/sdesc. They would then need to approval (someone glancing at them), to un-flag and let them out of the 'time-out' room and back onto the grid.
If the game's population isn't enough to have at least one person around, at any given time - then it doesn't matter what descs/sdescs are. Otherwise, the world won't end if the 'hairy dwarf' runs around for a few hours before someone notices.
I would do away with backgrounds entirely, and leave them as optional. They're 95% bullshit anyways. Those that aren't, people can still fill them in (cause it'll be optional).
This is how many successful MUSHes have been managed in the past. It's an obscene waste of time to muck around, hand-approving each app. On both ends.

For the record, I'm SO glad staff doesn't come and post here. That is one thing I do respect about Arm staff, even the staff I dislike. There is something so utterly unprofessional about staff going and posting on third party boards. I have never seen it handled well. What about jazet over in the SEOE thread? I did a complete 180 on my opinion of the game after my argument with that worthless contrarian I was misled to believe was on staff.

I'm not comfortable complaining about the particulars of what other specific game mods have said and done and calling them out by name. I don't want to complain about jazet or alaire or anyone else, really, especially not in a public board setting.

Prince, why do you always have the most awesome avatars? And as to Rath being promoted, I find it hard to argue against it. People want change. Change has a chance of happening. If Producer A is practically a non-entity, Producer B is disgruntled about things, or lacking the energy, then likelihood is that Producer C will attempt to get some shit done. From a position of actually being able to kick the snowball down the hill. If he never does, then that remains to be seen. I've had Rath mess around with me before, and he's a fun person to have on the other end of the machine in my experience. That aside, even if he IS bad, most people acted like Nyr was the ultimate ass-hat of all ass-hats, and made his name a verb for such fuckery. I'm thinking, even if Rath wasn't a shining example of what the general populace hopes for in a producer, he'll be a step up. I personally hope he'll be a bit more.

Addblock works on it. Can't right click it though, like most things. Instead you just have to click on ABP symbol, go to "Block element" and then hover mouse over the video until it highlights and click it. Press ok. Done.
