I quit. But the irony is that, after Tuluk closed down, I actually had a bit of unexpected fun on Armageddon. Because there are still some great people that play there. Unfortunately, it didn't last. In the end, I just refused to give any more of my time to a project that is captained by Nessalin and Nyr. Because no matter how assiduously you lay low and avoid staff...There'll always come a time when you have to either eat their shit or take off. They're toxic, noxious personalities, and it infects the whole game, GDB and the new staffers they hire. I've never been banned. I've never even been docked karma. It just gets to the point where it's very nearly physically painful to deal with them, and it outweighs whatever fun I was having. Yes, I could kiss their asses and manipulate them (like a lot do), but it's just nauseating. It's impossible to have a simple, honest back and forth. They're incapable of engaging on any level which isn't an elaborate pantomime about how great they are. get it girl get it

While I'm not happy to see Armageddon dying, it does give me some satisfaction that it's finally getting so bad that they can no longer deny that there's anything wrong. Unfortunately, I think they'll sink with the ship before they admit that they're the ones who have to change. I also am not excited at the current disintegration of Arm. I want to play the game, I want it to get better. But at the same time I won't deny that the predicament the game is now in does get a chuckle out of me. Oldtwink and Sirra's last two posts were like poetry to me just now because for years I felt I was the only one who thought these things. Like I was somehow the crazy one. But the more and more players here out themselves and share their grief the more I realize, wait, what are the odds that we're all wrong? It helps me realize that these are genuine feelings that not just one or two but a growing majority of players feel. It's important to learn a person through their actions, not their words. Eurynomos claims that he's a really nice guy and has the players' interests at heart. But people who are nice do not need to claim that they are nice. They just are. In fact you automatically incriminate yourself by broadcasting your alleged niceness. And I've never found him helpful at all when I was more heavily invested in the game. His responses to me came across as bitter and annoyed, and I'll be damned if I can recollect a single time he said 'yes' to anything I asked for. And that's a sentiment which I get from most of the current imms, the few GOOD apples drowned out in their noise. I can forgive nessalin for being the knob he was many many years ago. We've all been immature at one point in our lives. But he is exactly the same belligerent, condescending prick he was in 1994. How is that even possible. And adhira is criminal for her silence and her apathy and her non intervention. She's the quintessential enabler. And I think you've psychoanalyzed nyr to a T. He expressly does not want the game to improve, only putting on the vaguest act of pretending to care for the sake of the community. But it must be so deep set in him, so subconscious that he doesn't even realize it. In fact in reading this, and your guys' last posts, I suspect he'd say what are these guys talking about, this isn't true at all, I love the game! And I'm sure he does love it....on a surface level. But what he did to tuluk was unforgivable. He has, for all intensive purposes, wiped it off the map. It might have even been cool to close it and keep it as an npc city (even though me and several others wanted to keep playing there). Tuluk would have been the enemy of all players! And it would be a perfect tool for imms to stage storytelling and plots from. They could show up with small bands of tuluki npcs and assault people or destroy things, giving the players a reason to rally together. Giving a reason to create CONFLICT (isn't that supposed to be the very name of the game?) But that's not what has happened at all. Instead tuluk just stopped existing. Do characters even talk about it in game anymore? Like at all? I think what nyr did to tuluk satisfies his subconscious self. And I think the slow devolution and gradual collapse of the entire game we're now seeing is the next phase. The only moment he'll realize the mistake he's made is when he finally gets what his subconscious seems to want: the end of Arm itself. And it won't be until that moment when the player count reaches 0 (or effectively close enough) that his cackling with glee is met with silence and he realizes it's too late.

Given it some thought... I unquit. But the second I notice anymore SERIOUSLY questionable bullshit, I'm using the request tool, then posting the response and the inevitable ban notice to these boards.

lol, been a lot longer than 14 days... nearly a year, which is how long I have went without playing ArmageddonMUD - or any games at all, save for the murder mystery wedding I participated in with one of the people I love and respect most in the world (someone who played and eventually helped staff ArmageddonMUD after I introduced it to him when we were freshmen in high school; we're 30 now). I have been busy packing for a non strictly planned trip to the West Coast. I busted my ass working three shit jobs for seven months and am now going to explore some, so I feel I won't be able to keep track of what's going on. Aside from a Facebook message, I haven't had time to read anything at all here yet. I am still banned from the forums, and my account password has been scrambled by Nessalin until I e-mail them. I very seriously doubt I'll do that anytime soon, but if anyone in Cali, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, or somewhere close to there would like to drink beer and talk about Armageddon, I'll be around those areas for the next couple of months. Shoot me a PM on here if you're around that part of the country, and we can have thoughtful discussions about a game we love and/or snarkily denounce the inanity of administrations on a dated text based roleplaying game.

The good old days before the paths of war enchantment etc. I remember playing in 1993 or 1994, sometime back, but when you lose your account due to leaving school, it sucks. I DO know I was responsible for some of THEE most heinous acts known to armageddon where I learned to duplicate coins to the point where I had over 20K coins at a time. I remember causing the storming of the gates of both tuluk and allanak by creatures by 'rounding them up' and leading them in.
On other accounts, I remember being responsible for the collapse of the balcony in Tuluk, making murderous amounts of coin due to twinking and exploits, YET, in ALL of that, I never got banned until I said something less than negative about a staff member or I ruined some staff plot by killing a noble. It's no wonder people get pissed about playing Arm these days.

Banned. Told them to fuck off. Reason: Nyr and Adhira. Had been playing (off and on) since around 1992.

My average over the last five years IS TOO DAMN HIGH! Seriously, it's like 3 hours a day, and that's accounting for being gone for weeks at a time on the road. Now is one of those times, but when RL slows down, I will be playing actively again.

Awh. Always nice to run in to folks that knew me, as most of my characters didn't achieve any real fame. Dargan being the exception.

Dargan was pretty amazing. He trained my Legion warrior and we fought the crazy kryl war thing together and when the time came, the torch was passed. Dargan and Mae were as much a Tuluki staple as Dragean and Raleris, imo.

Fun Fact: Got all of one note on my account for Dargan, a character that was around for four real life years. It was a potentially negative one that wasn't taken off when I supplied a perfectly reasonable explanation. Gotta love that staff!
