Congrats, that's how long your average arm character tends to last.

Not in days, not in minutes, but simply, how long it takes you to get out the gates and type "kill scrab".

The average lifespan of a PC is 3-5 days played, and that's being generous.

There's a lot of pissed off people with a lot of complaints. And this board is a great place to come out of isolation and be validated, realizing "Hey, I'm not crazy after all." or "I'm not alone." Release is great because that isolation and abuse can do a lot of emotional damage until there's closure. Are we here getting closure or are re-opening old wounds? But yeah... some of those guys... they owe some apologizes and I doubt many, or anyone here is getting one anytime soon. With that said, no progress is made by reiterating problems. So when it comes to fixing Arm, what's realistic a solution look like? I'm not asking what does justice look like. If we can figure out what's wrong with the game, someone needs to follow through and propose solutions right? If a focus change doesn't occur and we're always looking for what we don't like rather than what will actually make us happy. What would satisfy disgruntled players and make the game worth your time and energy once again? get rid of boring and snarky staff - that's like #1 and #2 up there, buddy boy. everything else in the game's fine - once you get rid of boring staff, you get rid of unreasoned glass ceilings and shit like that and the culture of 'no' - once you get rid of snarky, abusive, vindictive staff you'll start seeing people have fun.

*spanks Purg, hesitantly at first, observing the reaction, before fighting a grin, worrying his lower lip and raising his hand again, bringing it down with a loud SMACK*

And THIS, Fuji, is why everyone thinks you're creepy, stop indulging the plebes, or, stop playing entirely, both would be prefferable... but, we have a third option.

"grumble is actually a psychotic 40+ something weirdo who lives off the government doll and does nothing but play armageddon all day every day. he has no aspirations, he has no real meaning in his life. only armageddon, getting drunk, and having bizarre pseudo-relationships with the people who play with his characters, of which there is no line between reality and fiction. he exclusively plays elves. i cant make this stuff up." - attribution it is known.

I've posted books on the subject, so let me say something new. This is suggested under the context that Nyr and Ness are out of the picture of running players, and you want to bring people back and revive their desire to play. 1) Make skill levels random within class-appropriate ranges. No core skill should start below 50. 2) Eliminate coded skill-gains. All spells should be available as appropriate to the class in question. 3) Bring back sorcs, halflings, gith, and mantis. 4) Drop the karma cap on everything by 4. 5) Kick everyone out of staff clans 6) Stop asking players to run things by staff in advance, but have them send in reports of interesting things they did or saw after the fact. Just do that for a few months and make honest observations. Use said data to revamp leveling to reduce grinding, clans to reduce activity drags and staff work, and to figure out what might make the normal game better in general.

Week 42: 197. Week 43: 184. Week 44: 207. the week isn't over yet and 'unique logins' is already at 209 and climbing. I can finally write this without irony: #thanksnyr (for fucking leaving).

Looks like even fewer staff members are logging in as their unlimited karma alts to boost the numbers these days.
