hope this helps you understand holiday seasons, ccp. Week 42: 197. Week 43: 184. Week 44: 207. Week 45: 231. Week 46: 220. Week 47: 229. Week 48: 225. Lowest, again, in five years.

lmao, does anyone want to still argue that there's low player counts because of the "holidays" even though the numbers are the highest these last couple weeks than in the previous couple of months?

However, I am still correct that the holiday season will continue to impact player counts for the next month or so, regardless of what you guys hope. It's easy to stand on the podium and shout that your "side" is correct about the "state of armageddon" at this very moment, and we use examples like "last saturday." But this hasn't and shouldn't been a debate about "who's right" about arma, it's about a lot of obsessed nerds trying either to point out specific reasons why the game is suffering so that it might be improved OR it's about scornful nerds trying to point ou t incorrectable weaknesses to further damage the playerbase. arrrrrrrrrrrrrr, matey. those that remain have long ago resigned themselves to that very fact: staff's inability to tell interesting stories and engage in player stories is incorrigible ... this explains why it's just mouthbreathers and idlers these days. will it change? maybe baby, but staff has not said anything publicly - they haven't even said there was a problem. so. numbers have been at 5 year lows most of this year, and definitely since mid september. so. there's that.

Let's hear about a few PC stories that got shot down or passed over. do you even play? more interesting would be to come up with stories that didn't get shut down... those are more exotic. but i suspect they all go like this: Lizzie: Hey staff! I want to play a doll! Badskeelz: Hey, staff! Can I play a gruff silent hunter who solo one-punches scrab with Lizzie's doll? Someone: Hey, staff! There's no door on the guild backroom. Someone: Hey, staff! A few of us are forming a small spice outfit in Red Storm. Someone: Hey, staff! My crew just went on raptor hunt #232102334. Someone: Hey, staff! Great spider RPT! Staff: No, no, force store, force store, no, three karma.

I think he's asking for specific anecdotes, not your "I had a bad time on the GDB" rhetoric.

I'm sure some people would post specific results or situations if it weren't against the rules for them to do so.
Yeah, they'll get punished in the future for it.

You know, I forgot that a great deal of you hide behind anonymity. Forget it. Lol.
Oh, and I do play, teatowel. I'm on hiatus because of my contract schedule, but in a week or so, I will be returning to actively playing.
For what it's worth, I've had a good deal of my ideas shot down, and the plots that were shot down and the ones that went through were always directly proportional to scale in the world. Though, I gotta say, I never gave a fuck about mastercrafting doors, sorry bout ya.

Well, sure, that don't make no damn sense. Listen, I tried my dick off to get things done in Tuluk and in Kurac, and in all of my years of playing leaders, I never got one single thing done or changed. I've come to realize that "be the change" means "be the change within the parameters of the world that already exists", and lemme tell ya, I started playing in the Byn, and mostly stopped giving a fuck about leaving my mark on the world and just playing a real, hardcore Zalanthan personality, and I was suddenly having fun on this game, again. I dunno if that helps anyone else, but once I realized I was giving too many fucks, I started having a pretty good time.

See, I don't understand the attitude of posts like that. I'm sure we've all been disappointed at one point or another, but I've never felt any specific desire to rage against the machine. Life's a bitch, roll with the punches, and move along. If you hate the game, don't play it. But I do think it's a worthwhile game, and I wish more of you would come back. Maybe with lowered expectations, as goofy as that sounds. Lol.

That particular instance, if that is how it went down, is a shame. It would've given players a lot of conflict to resolve, and I'm sure over the course of hundreds of years, something like that would've happened at least once, but again ... as you said, this is anecdotal. I can't shape my view of things from he said, she said. That's how stupid people make decisions. And even if it was the case, that was how long ago? At risk to my karma and future enjoyment of the game, I will concede that there has been heavy-handed behavior in the past. I'm looking ahead. I have a lot of faith in the current administration.

I last played when Shalooonsh was still on staff, and I'll steadfastly maintain that Loonsh was the best thing to ever happen to Armageddon. At that time you could still create things and change things and the world could come to life.
Don't let anyone fool you: the game certainly had other issues. It was not all sunshine and roses. There was corruption outside of the game influencing it at times, but that's just part of life and you'll find it everywhere in other MUDs too. I had bad experiences then and heard about plenty more. But I think that one singular element, where touching the world and changing it was really, actually possible, is likely what's lacking from today's game. There are no truly legendary, tide-turning characters anymore; the ceiling has been made too low for that. Power has been taken from the hands of PCs and barring massive changes staff-side, it is very likely never coming back.
That said, I'm sure you can still play Armageddon and enjoy it. You just have to have a different mentality.
