It would definitely be cool if there was a way to choose slums or commons when you pop into the game. I've only once made a human on there without prediscussing at least some aspect of the PC with Jazet or Alaire, and so it hasn't been an issue for me, but seeing what happened to your slummer pc and a friend of mine's slummer pc who also started in the commons due to just generating/getting into the game as a default... definitely could be useful. I was pleased to find that you could at least get out of the slums while not having talked to that pc. That said, if you wanna PM me, I can maybe answer a few of the questions or Jazet definitely could and probably a lot better, or else just transfer the said pc. I'm not fond of the way the blockade is, but I understand the circumstances that led to it, and it's sort of storyline related so it wouldn't make too much sense to change it for OOC stuff until/unless something IC can be done to change it. Sadly, given the slivers of stuff I do know, I don't know how that would happen. >.<

It's nice that a transfer is an option, but at this point I'd hope there'd be an IC reason or justification for him being able to cross the blockade, because he's been seen and talked to by commons PCs already. I wouldn't want to just be imm-transferred for OOC reasons alone.

Ah, that might complicate things indeed. I've got one of the pcs who's managed to wrangle permissions to get in and out of the slums, and I know of a couple others as well, but as far as I know, there's no recourse for getting in and out of them (sans imm intervention) aside from talking to that particular pc, sneaking, or I believe running may also work, though I'm not certain.

Yeah, if I'd known they were blocked off I would have asked for a transfer immediately, before RPing or seeing or interacting with anyone from the commons. But I didn't know about the plot, so I kind of burnt that bridge. There should maybe be a warning about that on the website or the forums, so that new or long-absent players who create slummer PCs can know to ask for an immediate transfer.

Probably a good idea, and not a bad idea at all. Last time someone made a point here about something that would be helpful for players to know it was updated fairly quickly to give guidelines on crafting type stuff by Alaire, so it seems likely that'll wind up happening after the point made on the subject.

Unless the situation is expected to change soon, I suppose.

I fixed the little issue of blockade so it should be easier for people to pass back and forth. That there are soldiers there should be good enough without them standing in the path.

I wouldn't say that, given that a good chunk of Sundown pc information was directly lifted from my pc and other Sundown PCs, and I know the same is true of other human enclaves. The elves I never could get into much. I loved the areas and they were beautifully written, but I've never been able to get into anything less human than a half-elf. The playerbase, as that goes, is fairly dichotomous. Many of them play like moderately verbose arm players, a few play like MUSH players (slow, purple prose, elaborate descriptions), and a few play like the arm dwarf stereotype of ruff circle and 'em nods';'em grunts'.

Rolecalls from the EOE Forums: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Awesome in October:
I'll keep this short, sweet and to the point. Referencing this post (http://db.eoemud.com/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=968) for your submission, the following roles are now open.
1. From the Avasar Enclave, a sales and support worker who has an interest in liquors, tavern interaction, fighting and causing some interesting RP. Male or female. Family. 2. From the Kavka Enclave, a sales and support worker who has an interest in arms and armor, spending money, mining and with an intense hatred of all things dwarf and Nadu. Family. 3. From the Nadu Enclave, a sales and support worker who has an interest in renting out apartments and engaging social events in the Nadu Teahouse. Artist pcs preferred. 4. From the Kaden Enclave, a tough as nails, young Sergeant who, because of nepotism, got promoted before they are ready. Someone treading on name, but interested in being more. 5. From the Slums, a corrupt and down on their luck business manager who decides they want to make a change and build some positive trade in the area. 6. A dwarven leader who has every intention of changing the methods and means of the dwarven people. 7. Artisans and performers. 8. Someone interested in being outside the enclave system, interested in playing a mercantile wizard with some support. Make friends, make enemies! Drive plots!
Show me what you've got.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If I didn't already have a role I love, I'd be all over the nadu artist role. Though the last posted role above is probably what a lot of arm players would most like, since it's kinda merchant/sargeant/byn leiutenant rolled up in one, for a player created clan outside the Enclave (merchant/family) systems.

Plot they ran tonight was pretty damned fun, lots of hacky-slashy goodness. Should be a blast finishing this story arc.

how do i play a merchant in this game. what is the best thing for me to do to get started. you mean like practical field advice for playing a guild_merchant, how to get a shop opened and/or run an independent merchanty clan, or? I can offer advice, but it would help if you could be just slightly more specific in what you're looking for.
