My problem with the way Purg is talking about now is that he's being whiny and by being whiny, he undermines pretty valid points he've been making a few months earlier, when this thread get started.

Well since I'm well and truly fucked, I've got nothing left to do but whine. The points from earlier still stand, but the fact that they've been completely disregarded undermines their weight more than me whining about how they've been completely disregarded.

You have lots of things to do besides whine. You could ride a bike. You could go shopping. You could take a class at the local community college. You could hit the gym. You could go on a date. You could watch TV. You could play a different game on the internet. You could take up knitting. So many things you could do. The fact that you think that the only thing left for you to do is whine, is what brings the "creepy" into this thread.

Interestingly, Talia and Calvaticus (or whatever his name was) haven't been around since early summer - a few weeks after the disaster - or at least not according to the 'updates' page. Note also you can see that there are fewer 'unique logins' now than ever - stretching back to 2010.
I think the lower numbers can be explained by a lot of things, but here are my thoughts:
1. Eliminating Tuluk and consolidating staff (not players) prevented people disgruntled or butthurt by staff actions (or player actions, let's be honest, both are assholes, some just have more power than others) from moving to an area of the game with different staff - a breath of fresh air. Instead, I suspect players just quit for a while, and a lot of them just don't come back.
2. Bringing Nyr into the producers maximized the vitriol and the circling-the-wagons approach to that butthurt.
3. Just plain boring staff members with little interest in PC plots.
4. Eliminating the character reports meant less communication with staff, and thus potentially more miscommunication, and thus more butthurt.

Regarding unique logins, I think that the reason the most recent update on the Armageddon homepage has a dramatically low number of unique logins and new accounts is because the week isn't over yet. However, there is still an obvious downward trend over many weeks and months. This is better seen in the red "average players connected by week" chart at mudstats.com/World/ArmageddonMUD

Umm ... guys? Wtf? September. School began. The numbers ALWAYS dropped in the beginning of the fall. Like always. Every single year, for literally decades.

By like 75%? The game's now clocking 25 players at peak. That has never happened before. The lowest I've seen prior to the recent numbers was right after the Reborn announcement when they plummeted to like 35ish but eventually recovered for obvious reasons. It's never been this bad for as long as I've known Armageddon, and school is not the reason peak numbers have gone from 60-70 to 25-30 in a few months. With the exception of the aforementioned Reborn farce, this game's numbers generally haven't fluctuated by more than about 10-20% per year, up until now.

There are 34 players currently in the world, other than yourself. 9:35 PM server time on a Friday Night is peak time. I think you were just being impatient with your count.

I recall a time when a busy peak was anything over 20 users ... But that's going back nearly 2 decades ... .. .

40 players total now, including myself. That's just 1/2 hour after my last post. Not bad for a Friday night.

Still a huge drop over very short time, and it's been 25-30ish on weekdays. Friday evenings are busier than usual, just like Sundays are.
