Hmmmm, calling me racist. If you want some idea of how I treated black people back home, just look at my facebook and the love they show me.
A black preacher shared one of my posts about the hypocrisy of Christianity a few months ago, lol.
Black people taught me how to sell weed. Of the main two who did, one, Kota Gaston, hung himself a few years ago after being hit with a federal heroin trafficking indictment, and the other became a customer when I found my plug to Ukiah.
It's funny how things work out. When I taught at the CC, most of my students, ranging in age from their teens to old enough to be my grandparents, were black.

On Memorial Day in 2007, because of the long weekend, I was one of three white guys in an overcrowded jail cell of close to 40 people, most of them black.
One of the black dudes attacked me for "taking his seat," and he was big but young, and I had slammed against a bench, on top of him, when a jailor comes in and, seeing me on top of the guy, slams my face against the metal bench, turning my two front teeth into jagged shards.
They only look kinda normal now because of bonding work.

ok thanks for responding to my sarcastic paragraph but how does you telling me how you love black people, because they taught you how to sell illegal drugs and beat you up in jail for no reason change anything?

I think you just need to watch it when talking to someone from Mississippi about race - because people where I'm from know what it's like to coexist more than, uh, probably some white kid that was raised in a suburb.

or you'll probably find out quickly that race relations in the south don't conform to hurdy dur stereotypes. There's a bunch of bullshit and generations-old wounds, but there are also a lot of good people coming together to try to repair all that, too.

Depends on where you're from, really. I grew up and worked in the hood but I was basically accepted by those who knew me since they'd grown up with me. I always find it funny (in a bad way) when Hollywood seems set in their ways to lampoon southerners as being backwards, sister-fucking racists.
