And suddenly everyone playing off-peak got shitty stats.

Also since the endurance stat correlates with both physical (HP) and mental (ST) endurance, that would kind of suck for primarily social characters who use the Way a lot.

Also, would whoring it up improve agility? Would it improve endurance if you're trying to last longer? IMPORTANT QUESTIONS NEED ANSWERING, DAMMIT!

I just pictured the entirety of the Byn's sparring hour being taken up by a yoga class conducted by code-conscious sergeants who don't want their crew to lose out on their agility.

I suspect Byn Sarges would be far more likely to encourage agility upkeep through the purchase of whores.

Bahahaha! What I was more suggesting there is that stats should be made to grow based on what your character does. A scrawny guy -can- become a huge guy. And in theory, agility also would have a lot to do with trained muscle memories. Swinging a sword with anything more than wild abandon, you would be taught various steps or forms to your blade, not because you should be moving to specifically those steps all the time, but you will automatically begin using them. In the case of martial arts, or MMA, you're taught to use your body a certain way, and you repeat that motion alot, and eventually, without thinking about it, you resort to using that motion. It's not so much your mind saying 'he's coming in with a left jab, it's logical I lean beneath and in to get those now open ribs' as it is you being trained to react to the jab a certain way. This is really a poor example, but when you see someone fighting and that guy is dodging ever punch thrown, or just brushing them away and beating the shit out of the other guy, you might be tempted to think one of them is just so much faster or more agile. The truth is that one is probably better trained. Though, there are obvious ups and downs. But then again, none of this has any weight. Arm is fantasy. And I'm just using this example as a way to look at the 'fixing stats' problem. Stats that improve based on the things you do in game would be a nice thing in my opinion.

It would certainly be more realistic. As oppose to the current static die roll fuck you that has always been a terrible idea no matter the game. (Personal opinion)

I liked the system on DartMud. Firstly, there were more stats than just the blunt agi, wis, dex, str. They had things like visual acuity. Secondly, you could adjust the basic starting levels using a point system, the costs of which were influenced by the race you selected. Between having something like ten or twelve stats to adjust and the interesting different racial skewing, you didn't end up with the cookie-cutter-character effect you would with just four, I believe.

Fuck no HL, one change I really didn't like, I have to pick how many stats at gen now? Fook me I don't care that much.

They just need to implement a point buy system like D&D. Each race starts with a base number for each stat, then it costs points to bump it, or you get points by lowering one. Everyone has the exact same potential. This is exactly how I do it when I run my D&D campaigns. It completely eliminates any jealousy between my payers because one rolled awesome for his stats and another dude got the worst dice rolls I've ever seen, even with me there helping him to fudge them some. Problem solved. Anyone who says stats don't matter on Armageddon is talking complete bullshit. There's nothing to ruin a character concept quicker than getting a shit stat roll on that mud. Immediate suicide and grind through the char gen process until you get one kicked out the other side with decent/good stats. It's just fucking stupid.
