yes, they are....of course...my bad... Well I rather see gnomes than dwarves or elves. Fantasy tropes are so tired. Try something new. But that's my humble opinion.

Actually, yes, Gnomes are rather my favorite race. Especially ones that are basically just small humans, rather than being a garden gnome or something.

That is what I'm trying to accomplish, basically. In my lore, the Elves left due to foreseeing the disaster. So there are no elves either. I deliberated for a long time on what to make the "strong" people, and finally came around to Dwarves although I'd be okay with changing it if presented with a better idea. But yes, Gnomes provide an RP angle and a race that people don't see very much in Fantasy RPIs. I'm trying to "do something new", but some people will just want the same old, I guess. Edit: As someone pointed out in a PM, this setting/idea is rather like Final Fantasy Tactics meets Shadowrun.

Well if your drawing from elemental planes as resources, perhaps then have quasi-elemental persons, shit even the Gith, would be a good example of a playable race in the land too. But I would much rather have a Halfling over a Gnome. On a side note, with the uprising of goblinoids in RP Mu** I wouldn't go that direction, but gith would fit right in for the villainy side of it.

I just grow tired of seeing dwarves come out so much stronger than humans. Look at it this way, if you're going to make a dwarf half as tall as a human, and still be stronger than the average massive human swinging around a battle axe, that dwarf needs to be very stump-like. Very short, but also very very wide. Two humans wide, half a human tall. That's the only way you're really gonna get a dwarf to be stronger than a human, assuming whatever muscle type makes up their body isn't completely different. I mean, legitimately, they could have like...chimpanzee muscles, I suppose, but it's always been an annoyance for me to see extremely short, and not really wide style dwarves still be 'stronger' than humans.

I always assume it was due to pure muscle density. Like they do indeed have chimp muscles.
Although that would mean they need a greater calorie intake then the average human to maintain themselves.

Yeah you're not doing anything new with gnomes and dwarves
Same old fantasy tropes, different mud
Small humans, regular humans, large humans. Not that hard. There's nothing man vs. world about a gnome getting squashed by a turd elemental.

Who wants something completely new? That would be some really weird shit.

Who wants something completely new? That would be some really weird shit. How about some Steampunk Tolken Orcs in the realm of Ravenloft. In all honesty, if I had my way, I would do a Ravenloft setting RP Mu** with Gypsies and the likes. Classless, Human, 1/2 Elf, Half-orc races only. The full blood Orcs and Elves would be the "Bad guys" along with the supernatural stuff. Maybe allow halflings or dwarves, but nothing as far as actual cities or clans, maybe the random one.

No you can't use any fiction that's ever been written before. What the fuck would that be?

Not only is vastly constructive, but the last sentence is just dazzling and completely irrelevant to any actual assertions that have taken place. If that's all you come to this thread for feel free to do something more productive with your time.
