Not sure who wrote this I think I did about a character I had ages ago. The badly-burnt half-elf I think. This may have been the last PC I had on "Delerak" account.
Chronicles of an Outcast
Wandering amidst the wasteland of Red Storm, the hatred of Allanak burning deep within, Kune
was
certain someday he would have his vengeance upon the templar. But that day would have to wait
for
this day was the day he would fall to the mercenaries of Allanak, the Byn. It was a dusty, stormy
morning,
the usual around Red Storm. The battle did not last long, Kune attacked out of rage for the
city
and found himself met with a skilled and professional soldier. He was cut down swiftly, and
saw the
fog of death looming before him. But he was pulled back. Pulled back by some unknown force,
perhaps his own
will-power, or something he could not understand, he awoken with the deep bite of agony within
his
bones: covered in blood and lying in a prison cell of the mercenaries. The following scene
gave him
some reprieve from his insane state of mind - simply wanting to murder someone. He was offered
a
second chance by the man who defeated in single combat. This Sergeant was known as Raken, and
he dubbed
the new Runner as Toasty. Was this his new life? Toasty thought not. But it was something to
pass the time, the
sparring was harsh and he went to bed every night with bruises, scrapes, and several deep
abrasions. Coming to welcome the daily beatings
he developed a resistance to the pain and it dulled out the thumping cold heart which
was contained
in his ribcage, wanting to be unleashed upon the city-state.
This life however was not to last. With Raken's death at the hands of spiders, Runner Toasty
had lost the second chance
he was given and decided to go, but a heartfelt talk with a dwarven trooper known as Tarq
kept him
longer in the Northern complex. Getting out of Allanak was no small task and every templar or
soldier
they passed on their way to the gates was a challenge. But Toasty learned patience in the
Byn. And he made it
to the north. The place where he sought to become a mercenary for the Tuluki. However a Sergeant
known as Lex had different intentions. Forced to return to Allanak, beyond his control, Runner Toasty lost
his sense of patience and discipline and left the group as they neared the looming Black Walls. He was branded as a deserter, and
a dwarf known as Meat helped him with inside information.
No longer bearing the foolish nickname, he evaded the mercenaries by delving deep below
Tuluk
and finding the Under City. Here he spent weeks, learning the tunnels and the dangers. Among
finding an ankheg and a small army of undead, he found those who were
also outcasts much like himself. Anca, the half-elven burglar, and even
Meat the dwarven mercenary came to him, looking for guidance. The dwarf meat died
to a mantis
and Kune, now known as Kane or Kazyn did not shed a tear for someone he considered a friend.
His cold
outlook had not wavered even in seeing a brief friendship die.
To be continued.
