i still see the Warrens thing as a possible good thing. assuming I've correctly guessed it's nature, this could wind up being a prototype for clans so disposable/unimportant that the staff can allow players to have real positions of leadership. Including the capcity to bring ruin on their clan. Arm's needed to downgrade the importance of the playable clans for decades now. (By which I mean create new, lower clans and close the old ones to players)

Clans that cap at 4 people, which you can never bring anyone else into.
With combat, social, stealth and crafting all being different distinct areas, providing your 'family' is each one focused on one thing, you automatically have your position of leadership, leading no one you can recruit ever, in a setting which has a 1 in 5 chance of your pc dying in any given week. The odds that even half of the family will survive more than four months are nearly astronomical.
That's why I'm not excited or enthusiastic.
Just like the paths of magick subguilds were initially meant to dovetail the sorcerer guild, not replace it, I look at this and see nothing but extra layers of red tape with the same or decreasing rewards.
Yes, I'm jaded, and yes, I'm cynical.
I was around to see what it was that fucked the 'family' and 'tribe' thing to 4 members and you're never allowed to bring in new members.
You want to know how that happened? I wheeled and dealed and schemed and fucked with my pc who was the leader of a tribe, until the tribe was nigh untouchable, and when people died off, just like a LOGICAL tribal leader would do, I brought in new blood to keep them from dying out.
And when the other person helming the tribe recieved the email to stop recruiting IC because reasons (even though there are and were no IC reasons, and the tribe was carving itself a permanent place in the game world), the other player simply stopped playing.
They stopped playing because of the email and new totally OOC rules drummed up. And instead of stopping playing at that point, I just became (and still am), pretty fucking jaded about the entire thing.
It's a meta construct to cockblock players from being able to leave permanent marks in the game world that the staff don't like.
Too fucking bad, so fucking sad.
Even on rolling back the tribes terminology, the rules are still in place, and now you have to get preapproval for your virtual tribe where before you didn't.
All the same restrictions, plus more, for all the same lack of freedoms, but hey, you can call it a tribe IC now, where before there was an arbitrary OOC rule against using a WORD to describe something, and not an anachronistic word, in a world where there are shitloads of tribes, either.
Meh.
I'll believe it's a good thing when I hear any evidence of it. Any at all. Beuller?

Well to be fair, I don't think the characters have gone IC yet. I haven't even seen the northern Byn sergeants yet. I still get the feeling they're having trouble filling these roles because either people are too new to want to app them or old enough to know how restrictive sponsored roles can be. Or like me, not willing to give up my current character to play one. I am starting to see more players in Tuluk though, it's just not on the level of 'nak. I feel like if they get some good people in place though as far as RP, Tuluk might be better than it ever was.

Eh, my post was less specific to Tuluk, less specific to the role call in general, and more in response to the musings of Bitter directly.
While I'd love to see people create clans and those clans see support...
I would be absolutely dumbfounded to see it actually happen.
Let alone in a way as organic and player driven as it seems like bitter is alluding to, which would be much more fun and dynamic for play than monolithic and implacable forces you can never really hold any power in besides 'vending machine the great' or 'sargeant that's not cool enough to be an outrider' etc.

The way that Rath talked about the families gave me the impression the staff finally decided to try making clans so unimportant they could never make a lasting change in the world. thats what made me hope they might accidentally stumble in the right direction. They can still fuck it up. i mean as soon as you land on staff it's like they can't wait to skillbump your irl Clusterfuck skill to Master.

Touche, touche.
I'm really hoping for the best for the people who still play.
I'm just way too cynical and jaded about my time there in retrospect to ever be able to enjoy it again, without massive changes to the gameworld and what players can accomplish, myself.
