Mechanical secrets are bs unless the game is a fully intuitive simulation of life. It isn't, so I'm not getting any roleplay-related enjoyment when I learn about how skilling up works, it shouldn't be a chore to figure this up.
It's just that right now, it's a chore, not a secret.
Im on board with the OOC communication ban though. It ruins my game completely when folks are interacting OOCly and making friends with each other, but the worst part is when people try to be nice to me OOC, in a friendly manner. It always affects how I treat them and I don't want it to.

In the absence of social games and information puzzles, how should we decide who gets to play a powerful pc?
Other than base o and d growth and exact equipment stats, what information is missing from these forums?

This forum has given us all of the info that you could ever need about skilling up.
If you still can't figure it out, you're either lazy (or just don't care) or stupid.

While it's true that all the information is out there at this point, the fact that Armageddon MUD is designed like it wants you to buy a Nintendo Power guide is still embarrassing.

This is what I meant, the normal player still seems to be surprised by many very trivial mechanical details, and they're meant to uphold this whole shtick of being super secretive. It seems a lot of people aren't taking advantage of the information on this forum.

All information is on the forum, I was just saying it's a bit lame that staff themselves didn't put it all out there, so people could ignore OOC social/information games to find out code details, and just focus on their characters. Powerful PCs get decided by stat rolls and coded skill bonuses and karma. I don't believe OOC meta-game knowledge should be a criteria for determining how powerful your PC is, as it is now to some extent.

OOC meta-game knowledge is a huge determinate for how good someone is at a game regardless of genre, medium, platform, etc. There are meta builds, gear, etc. in base D&D that a player will only become aware of through experience, their friends or guides like the ones presented on this site. It's only an issue with Armageddon because staff actively repress this information and guides like the ones present here... leaving the code knowledge to veteran players and cliques/old friend groups. Edit: I recognize that you realize this now, kannot.
