the thing that gets me is really, what is the fallout of something being 'abused'? A PC being killed unfairly? lol that happens all the time, who here hasn't had 10 tarantulas appear out of nowhere and it's over? or gotten reel-locked and killed? or been shit-mugged? how long was that last one in game for? how long was qoriya allowed to run hog wild, just PKing players without repercussions for having a single bad thought? instead of denying plots/ideas/cool things for PCs because of possible 'abuse', staff should just deal with it as it happens. The point is for players of a game to have fun. The point of running the game is to have fun and make sure people are having fun. honestly, who the fuck actually enjoys writing 'reports' and reading them? i don't think people should have to prove they're worthy of getting a unique mdesc/piece of gear/whatever. just make it happen. Let Newblord the Sid Miner unearth a cursed ring that boosts his strength while giving him echos like 'kill them all' and see where the plot goes organically. What's the worst that's going to happen? maybe he goes bragging in the Gaj and gets shanked for it. maybe a templar takes it from him. Or maybe he goes about his day and gets whacked by a beetle while sid mining again. in that case, reload his body and gear for a few reboots so the next guy can stumble on it. Chaos is okay, the world isn't going to end if a plot is allowed to happen organically. But but...things might actually.... change... if that happened! People might actually have fun and feel like they can actually effect that change. What the fuck is wrong with you?

If nyr spends all his time supporting pcs and there organic plots then when will he have time to script out teleporting volcanos or tuluk rpts that only effect npcs?

I for one love writing character reports. If I really hate my staff I write really long reports chocked full of so much detail they'll never get the important bits.

We're talking about a game where it is, at this point, cool for bynners above the rank of runner to openly discuss "northie mindworms" like it's common knowledge. Is this really a surprise after the HRPT, in which people from the whole range of southern clans were told to learn how to raise their barriers and had to fight against Northie mindworms and be afflicted by them? And considering how word passed around even more openly during the Copper War?

By this point, then, I think we should all be well aware of what mages are capable of. They were involved in the war as well, after all.

Lol, those mages tried screwing with the Tuluki army so much.. The PC templar in charge got whisked off his mount while we were riding over, only for him to sprint back up the hill we were riding along and mount up like it ain't no thang. There was also a krathi who thought it'd be hilarious to cast fireseed straight into the gathered forces. I swear some people are out there just to try and ruin people's days.

'I don't care that what's going on here is (maybe) going to change the world in major manners and will involve dozens of players, nor that this is an extremely well-guarded force of people from the world's most knowledgeable institution who have studies how to slay my kind for centuries, I'm going to go and ruin everything by blatantly disregarding the fact that the code doesn't quite paint the world in the kind of light that it does and cast a spell on someone when really I'd be sniped down before I'd approach him for even a hundred yards'
But yeah, I guess you spent a day or two twinking up your whiran, so go ahead and be a dick in front of fifty or so people I guess.

The thing I find interesting about the PC is he has a gem, but yet he is wearing a templar ring. I would have thought the two were mutually exclusive.

There are only (if I recall right) two. See the secrets thread for more details on what they do. I think I posted that there.

I dunno, shield?

Which would be a totally valid point if the fact that guards won't protect you from magick wasn't a reality. And the fact that knowing how a fireball works doesn't keep a mage from casting it, 'babble' the psionic skill that all the southie mages were trained against with barrier does. Sorry, but no, you wouldn't ask any other guild to blatantly not play their characters and be slaughtered like lambs for RP reasons that do not stand up to logic and scrutiny. The idea that you would ask it of mages is silly.

If the Tuluki military is so incredibly helpless against mages, how come its templars and soldiers don't end up dead every time they leave the city?
