I'm not spending years of my life on a niche role playing game character and sending in pages worth of tps reports as if it's job just to get to have the possibility to do something cool. I think it's shitty to expect a fanatical devotion out of players like that sorry no I have a career and family to prioritize. Well said, especially "TPS reports". The slogging to results ratio is just too high. Ridiculously high, considering how easy it is to whip up a couple of rooms or an object for someone. Especially now that it's at the point where players are writing the descs and object properties and sending them in themselves!

Of note, jcarter: Kiven, the sorcerer you're referring to, was Uruz's avatar, not Thistle's.

I think its ironic and hilarious someone tried to say you totally have the freedom and used Sky Alight as the example. Bahahahaha.
Sorry I'll go back to lurking now.

In my defense, Sky Alight is just another example of an inhuman gicker with a bunch of rings who is ungodly powerful. He wasn't my example of freedom gets you this and here is the role model!
More importantly the easy steps I listed are a realistic and doable way of becoming just like the PC shown in the OP. There is no difference between normal PC with shitton of krathi enchanted items and superduper sdesc/mdesc PC with a shitton of krathi enchanted items except probably the guild you have. That guy looks like a nilazi or a sorc. In my example you'd probably be a ranger who buddies up with a krathi to get the leet items.
Even more importantly there is no difference between twinking an approximation of the OP character and being the OP character. It all comes down to the same thing, the methods are just different. (also staff will use excuses to try and kill you)

Yeah because setting out with the goal of befriending krathis for their enchanted items is normal and not metagaming.
Do all sorcerers get that cube, or is that the other guy with the cube after somekind of hellraiser accident?

I could have killed sky alight at one point with one of my PCs. He randomly attacked me in the tablelands and I knocked him out in a couple hits. Stole all his enchanted shit and left him there as a lesson.

I don't think having an ooc intention of befriending krathi's at some point for an overall goal is anymore wrong or metagamey than having an ooc intention of befriending hunters as a Merchant in order to start an indie group.

Or Vivs if your PC is sick and wants heals (whirans if its chest rot I suppose) Or Tribals and Merchants if your PC wants to learn Cavalish or Bendune Or assassins if your PC wants to learn about poisons I could go on. If any of this was metagamey, Stumps, would not exist. Lol. At all.

agree w/most everything, but the only difference there is pre-knowledge of krathis 'enchanting' items for specific effects is usually unjustified for most mundane PCs, vs. something more common like vivs can heal, etc. so unless theres something in the background or an ig event occurs that explains how they'd even know about it, much less be warped enough upstairs to try to befriend a witch because of that.. its gonna look pretty obvious

We're talking about a game where it is, at this point, cool for bynners above the rank of runner to openly discuss "northie mindworms" like it's common knowledge. It's probably perfectly acceptable to know what krathi are capable of.

It's probably perfectly acceptable to know what krathi are capable of. As a matter of fact. ICly in the last few months I had a PC learn that this is a thing just through conversations. They weren't a special or even terrifically well connected PC, and it really wasn't that tough to learn. Also, we are talking about using OOC knowledge to plan out a character concept/goals. No one said, roll a pc right out of chargen into the elementalist quarter and be like, "Oi, Krathi, make me enchanted rings." Also. I want to roll an even -more- hideous PC than normal after reading this guys mdesc.

the thing that gets me is really, what is the fallout of something being 'abused'? A PC being killed unfairly? lol that happens all the time, who here hasn't had 10 tarantulas appear out of nowhere and it's over? or gotten reel-locked and killed? or been shit-mugged? how long was that last one in game for? how long was qoriya allowed to run hog wild, just PKing players without repercussions for having a single bad thought?
instead of denying plots/ideas/cool things for PCs because of possible 'abuse', staff should just deal with it as it happens. The point is for players of a game to have fun. The point of running the game is to have fun and make sure people are having fun. honestly, who the fuck actually enjoys writing 'reports' and reading them?
i don't think people should have to prove they're worthy of getting a unique mdesc/piece of gear/whatever. just make it happen. Let Newblord the Sid Miner unearth a cursed ring that boosts his strength while giving him echos like 'kill them all' and see where the plot goes organically. What's the worst that's going to happen? maybe he goes bragging in the Gaj and gets shanked for it. maybe a templar takes it from him. Or maybe he goes about his day and gets whacked by a beetle while sid mining again. in that case, reload his body and gear for a few reboots so the next guy can stumble on it. Chaos is okay, the world isn't going to end if a plot is allowed to happen organically.
