I think the game needs merchanty ambitious people to craft and create and push economy and move coin around. I have an idea for a role now... dunno if it's setting applicable tho. And you. Send it to staff and let them fine tune it down for ya.

If it's a free standing structure, like a small shelter or cabin it is going to be a mixture of skill and the type of building. Everyone can learn to carve and chisel, so I'd expect if we're talking about a house made of wood, that a good portion of the materials be made using those skills. In some instances things like walls can be constructed from those materials. Once four walls are made, we'll close the room off (provided it's in the middle of nowhere), then after that if there's some RP done on making a roof, we'll enclose it. Poof, you got a house, you did the work, we just realized it for you. So that will take as long or as little time as you put into it. We'd not need the logs, really, in this case, because you're using the skills your character has to do this. Things like mastercrafts, we don't put limits on in regards to how many can be submitted, but we will look at your skill percent and make sure you're not drastically overestimating your abilities. That is not to say we wouldn't put your submission in game and inform you that while you don't have the skill level to accomplish it, in time you will, and it will be available for you when you reach that level. So to answer your question, in a long winded and round about fashion, a construction project would likely require a few rl days of work, just because of the pieces required to do it. And if it's something the code doesn't support, we'd give an arbitrary number: "You'll need to form up 25 long boards for me to make your raft, when you're done, send me a message." No big deal, really. How about those who do not have the skills to craft those materials themselves or build, but they managed to procure some through buying, bartering, selling, stealing? How different would it be for those players who DO NOT have the coded skills to do it, but they have the materials and they really want to build it themselves. (This is speaking if they do not decide to get someone who can build stuff or if they are UNABLE to find someone who can build stuff. E.G Unable to reach for a Nadu/Kavka and they got fed up of waiting for like RL days or weeks.) How is staff going to cushion and support the determined players who wants to see their dreams achieved? If we're being honest, you DO have the skills. Everyone has the skills. If you don't, your friend does. I mean, sure, if you want to build a shelter, for example, made of branches and sticks that has zero quality or value, we could probably work with that. But you couldn't expect to get much out of it, like doors, walls, etc, because you're not backing it up with any kind of skilled labor. If you're buying the materials, I'd hope you have some desire to pay someone to do the construction too if you're not wanting to personally. Trickle down economics.

I'm pretty sure those players would pout. How is staff going to cushion and support the determined(impatient) players who wants to see their dreams achieved? You can build parts of things, and furniture for the would be place, without the skill on your list, and after making enough boards/crates/whatever, I can't see why someone wouldn't have the skill to make something rough at least, or even quite nice, if they work a lot on components for it (wind up with a high skill in it). I would know. I made a tower on there that way. That's how it has been, at least.

I think it's adorable that ya both think that I was talking about myself. Haha. I was actually thinking about what if I was a new player and didn't have this skills and by some chance, this nice tradesman actually sold me this bunch of wooden boards at a steal, just to build myself a nice, safe shack.

Soooo, I'm playing here now. I can't even bring myself to log on to Arm. It's a little barebones compared to Arm as far as emoting, but the staff is pretty responsive. It could use some good rp'ers, lot of niches to fill.

Me and Kevo from the GDB/Arm/Here are playing there as well.
Me and Kev usually get on around midnight or a bit after, central time, for 1-3 hours or so.
See all you crazy SOB's there.

I'm going to give EOE a go I think. It's a solid game. I cycle in and out of love with it like I do most games I play, but it's definitely great, and can feel more populated than Arm at the oddest times, too, despite being unbelievably huge (to the tune of: there are so many rooms in the slums quarter of the city, it's larger than the salt flats probably)

We have some off peaks for those who are wanting to try but scared of going through the world alone.
