Last time I checked ISPs use dynamic IP ranges. Call and ask for a reset on your IP. Problem solved.

Last time I checked ISPs use dynamic IP ranges. Call and ask for a reset on your IP. Problem solved. Pretty sure they can determine my MAC address too. That means I've to get new hardware. Also, I don't use static IP's. Mine are dyanmic, much to my user's frustration. My internet is hooked up with industry standard speeds with fibre optic cables My providers won't give me a static IP for some stupid reason

You don't want a static IP. That means it never changes. Dynamic IP addressing is the reason IP bans hold no water. I can get it changed whenever I want by calling my ISP. Also you can buy a new NIC card for $30 bucks and wow NEW MAC address.

Notwithstanding the fact that you can also spoof your MAC.
Also I'm pretty sure that Arms staff is incompetent when it comes to finding your MAC. It's damn near impossible to do it thru a MUD. You'd have to send them a packet with your MAC in the header, they'd have to capture those packets.

What I meant are dynamic IP's suck when it comes to server hosting, as my users can never just do a direct connect to IP to join the server

Oh yeah that does suck. That's why we have this thing called DNS. We just use domain names and they automatically resolve to the right IP.
The reason your ISP won't give you a static IP is that there really aren't any left. Hence IPv6.

Get on my level. IPv4 for life! (Although I've found myself using ssh an awful lot lately for tweaking servers remotely)

Hah. To my amusement they just black listed my ISP. I can't connect at all with my provider even with a dynamic IP. Back to VPNs I go
