It's a bit funny that Muk Utep came out and said that, when the reality is: Lirathans didn't even have to be noble. The Lirathan Sisterhood would take in promising female psionicists from an early age, and there was an NPC Lirathan whose bio even reflected that she wasn't even Tuluki by birth.
Priceless.

It was never explained to me why they had to be female, only that Lirathans are female, they are -all- psionicists, and that they have been known (amongst themselves, mostly) to recruit outside the nobility for it when they come across a female child who had the abilities, provided they were found young enough.
The fact that they have to be female, and even the female/male division of protections, did not strike me as particularly sexist. What did strike me as a major double standard, though, is that it's pretty well unheard of for the Jihaens to recruit outside the nobility. Which in a way does make sense, as their powers aren't innate, as Lirathans powers are, but even still... meh.
It's about like when they retconned lensed sunslits. There doesn't really need to be an IC explanation. Though I'd think they'd at least do a bit better than that with the one they chose to go with. Funnily enough, perhaps, more than once, it was discussed that if Terissa had been 5-6 instead of as old as she was, she may well have been slated to join the Sisterhood.
The Lirathans have a lot of interesting story around how they are trained and initiated, but as 'history' goes, it's oft lacking in the documentation department, as with many other factions in Zalanthas.

The main reason why Lirathan Order is all female, was because it was an attempt to create a variation of Bene Gesserit order. As a matter of fact, a lot of their plots and legends stem around the never fulfilled, always ongoing prophecies and various long-run machinations. Some Tuluki Noble houses were also into breeding blood lines and stuff. If Tektolness is a dragon, then Muk Utep is a giant worm None, or very little of it really got played out though, so I guess that's over with. As for Lirathans outside of nobility. Is it possible that there's Lirathans, and there's lirathans? As in, you have a Lirathan Templar who takes part in politics, decision making, population dealing, etc. And there is a lirathan who is basically a part of the psionic chorus that they use to fuck armies up and send mantis running? To my knowledge, by theme. Psionicists who were captured arent exactly killed when they dissapear. They are turned to serve within the Pyramid. Those Lirathans who choose not to join the newly made Templar Order will participate in the next project. Tleilaxu Tanks.

It's all fucking stupid. None of this existed prior to the 'New Tuluk' rebuilding by a select few staff who had a hardon for wanting to do something "different" than allanak. Before, During and even a bit after the rebellion it never existed. So you're telling me Muk Utep suddenly decided that he wanted 2 different templar orders when he NEVER HAD ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE for THOUSANDS of years.
GTFO! Where is the canon?

Rezzed...at least three times...two of which were righteous kills. That's really annoying. That's probably as bad as it gets, rezzing people you like or your own character. -disgust-

can you elaborate? How was she rezzed? Could you talk about it in detail? Who killed her? How? News to me that she was resurrected.

My apologies for the ridiculousness that's been happening lately. After I discovered the idea for the volcano to be dropped on the Tan Muark, I also found out that the Lirathan Order was originally meant to lose its powers. At least, that's what I remember being discussed, perhaps I have it wrong. In any case, SORRY GUYZ!

Heh. I remember when Qoriya was just beginning her character and was failing psi skills on people. It was hilarious. I always thought that templars would begin with those skills at max, but considering the entire tablelands, RF, SLK, and SR suddenly start talking about some rawboned woman fucking with their heads. It was funny.
All things considered, that was a very long time ago.
