Depends what you mean by a sandbox mud, if you mean the players are left in a small area to play where the staff can watch over them, then yes, Atonement was definitely a sandbox.

I'd be interested in helping a project code.

Did I ask for room flags yet? If you were a builder, what sorts of flags do you think a room should have?
It's easy to implement this stuff now, at the start of the coding process. Adding stuff later will take longer. Please share your ideas.

Reminder that I still please need one more coder, preferably someone skilled or interested in PHP.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
This message serves as an official announcement to the Armageddon Staff that I will be starting a MUD, opening for testing probably approximately January 2016 or so, give or take one or two years. In the interim I will be mostly working on the OpenRPI code base, and would like to politely recommend that you join OpenRPI both as sponsors and participants.
Please message me to set up contact - I'd like for all of us to enjoy good relationships.

Outstanding, Nessalin. Do you still need help?
Best of luck, regardless.

I'd just like to clarify a point that was made earlier in this thread regarding Delerak and his RPI-Engine release. I was actually the owner of the Shadows of Isildur / RPI Engine Intellectual Property at the time that Bristlecone forked off the Argila project, and indeed, gave her (and the users of that derivation) irrevocable and permanent right to use, modify and distribute the code so long as it was done in line with the Shadows of Isildur and Diku licenses. As Delerak's work derives from Argila, it is a 100% legitimate derivative use of this work so long as it includes the Diku, Shadows of Isildur and Argila licenses.
Unfortunately the Diku license actually prevents the code from being classed as "Open Source", because that implies the ability to use the code to create commercial projects, but Diku specifically prohibits that as most of you would no doubt be aware.
Nonetheless, if you or anyone else was to use Delerak's engine, there is no reason why you should think it would not stand "for 40 years", at least on licensing terms.
