I seems to me that Mirage is a useless spell and should lead to another spell, possibly a refresh spell that restores mv points, it's almost as if it was an incomplete thought.
I also believe that Determine relationship should also be expanded to maybe detect sorcery, ie make sorcerers visible to the caster.

There is a reason they are low karma. There was a time when they were valuable to play, before it was possible to be rich on any character regardless of skill level. (NPCs used to have set money, so you couldn't just sell anything/everything you find).
I had several characters that used to worry about water, and Vivaduans were valuable. Also before people learned how to twink the combat code you didn't have people able to kill Meks by themselves after a couple days played, so healers were also important for large expeditions, etc.
My vivaduan was employed by a noble house and had a lot of fun.

Mirage is one of those 'just for fun' spells that puts on a show. I think every magicker has one but it might just be a handful.
I remember being excited about playing a Vivaduan and seeing the game in a completely different way in like 2002. Water was a way bigger expense back then and there wasn't automated money making quests involving mining for rocks five rooms away from the gates.
Vivaduans also get a unique weapon summon that's like some kind of held plant that drips water and heals the user.

How do Vivs get that second weapon? Is it a branch from one of the other weapons like the 'shield' ? I hope it's a shield.

Vivaduans can be very powerful. But they are a complicated guild. Venom kicked ass. I was never really into Vivaduans. This one I've been playing has been alive for a long while and is the deadliest character I've ever had. It's outside-of-the-box as far as PVP is concerned. Most people don't understand it or make an effort to.

They're quite useful in that all you have to do is unequip/equip a mist shield to become invulnerable again. Like rukkians, good defensive spells and are stronger than you'd think. I think at least one person on this board would know about that.

Nevermind being able to intox someone into oblivion, while being invulnerable, with sanctuary dropping even MORE damage done to you.
Now they can't run, or hurt you, and you just poisoned them. Or had gates slampig them to death.
