The GDB isn't the only thing wrong with Arm. Yeah not every Arm player is toxic but a significant enough portion are for the community to reach a critical mass of toxicity. If there's any games opening up that could kill Arm I'd be worried for those games that could inherit the Arm community. I'd be very hesitant to play anything that inherited the Arm community. I might play something like a MUSH that had a large portion of the player base made up of Arm players where I could isolate from players I don't want to deal with and just have largely non interaction with them. Even so I'm not optimistic about anything that involves the Arm community whether that's the future of Arm itself or anything that replaces it.
But that's right. The same people are just going to have the same problems. Switching to a different dressing or moving things around here and there isn't going to change that. And if Arm goes the route of bringing more and more rules to contain the toxicity then many of these rules would just be weaponized by the players to use against other players to win.

ARM is so old and Ask is right. All communities tend to go that way. I feel minority of the players are toxic at heart. But they tend to be very active on online communication channels and well.. results in echo chamber effect. People in the circle begin to feel everybody is like that. Last month around 190-200+ players played the game. I just see a handful people here, GDB and even Discord, posting messages, let alone toxic people. Communities only have a tendency to become toxic if the community's owners attract toxic people to the community and allow them to stay. It's not "all communities". It's the ones that are run badly, with no care for the people in them and only a desire to grow, even if it means keeping people who are just bad. Let's not forget that Halaster and Shabago tried their absolute best to justify keeping Shalooonsh on board until Shalooonsh was rude a few times in Discord and became too much of a liability to be worth the trouble. And he literally stalked players and sexually harassed them in game, all captured by run logs.
Arm happens to be at a severe disadvantage because it's simultaneously trying to be a roleplaying game and a PVP game. So it attracts people who are willing to do anything to ensure that their RP wins over another's RP. If that means making a throwaway Facebook account so you can tell the player of the PC competing with yours that their PC is going to die, so be it. Whatever it takes to win, clearly.
Most roleplaying MU*s simply don't attract these people, because the people who run them find the idea of running a competitive roleplaying game to be not worth the effort, or they find the concept inherently ludicrous. Games like Armageddon attract these people, then the staff wring their hands about getting rid of them because "there's not enough proof it was them" or "he's such a good roleplayer".
If I was a Producer and I heard that a player was being told on Facebook that their PC would die, I would be deeply ashamed of my game's community and start removing people from it until I wasn't ashamed anymore.

People don't over post on GDB or Discord for Arm because they get moderated to the point where you can't disagree about anything unless you are one of the chosen circle of veterans or an absolute novice.
To the community issue, I want to say that a lot of long lived game communities have their own eccentricities and I think the call that Halaster and Shabago did too little until too late was one hundred percent accurate.

"I hate all of you, but I get bored when I'm alone" Most of this board and GDB can be summarized into that one sentence. (A tweet by Turkish singer known by using a lot of recreational drugs) "and you're the only people who will tolerate me"

I saw this post and I recognized, this mood is going to be the thing that kills Arm.

Luckily, there are other games in the works, and hopefully they won't be quite so fucking toxic. I'm still hoping for a Western. I would play alone.
