I'll be frank I think if people want a Dark Sun MUD it'd be best to build it from the ground up. I can give pointers, suggestions and ideas on how to get that nice Dark Sun feel but ultimately I think that the Arm format will not work.

I think a big issue is just the concept it self of 'Dark Sun Mud'. What aspects are they wanting? If it's the bullshit travel survival mechanics, that's a very different game than what most people actually want to play. I bet 90% of the people who say 'I want a Dark Sun Mud' don't mean 'I want to carefully calculate how much water and food I need to travel on my shit caravan carrying obsidian to another shit part of the world to hopefully make enough to buy more water'. I actually like that type of gameplay but ONLY in the context of a TTRPG, otherwise I'm just playing spreadsheets.
Usually it's actually 'I want to play the Prism Pentad books but without the travel time'.
Someone snatch the inquisition code, replace the demons with elementals, and reflavor everything.

Personally I don't give a shit about Dark Sun
The ideal RPI will be focused on game design, intelligent clans/avenues for conflict and creative storytelling, not a certain theme, DND world rip or TV show. Like no one really gives a fuck about druids or authentic Dark Sun interpretations... they just want to have a good experience that they can immerse within without worrying about cheating staff or nefarious game loops.

At this point I'll play any game where I can blow stuff up and not worry about other people dicking me over.

GAME OF THRONES SECONDARIES RUINED ARMAGEDDON. I recall Nyr setting me up for a (thoroughly unenjoyable) sponsored role by going 'you know, like Game of Thrones'. It's definitely true; the series is a terrible guide for how to run a MUD.

What I kinda want to see again is one of those open Arm MUDs where people just dick around with mod powers.
As someone who didn't get a chance to explore the wider game, I'd LOVE to just play a character who can walk around and check things out.
