So... your point is that some random newbie just starting to play Armageddon, as I was, should do more than simply hear that there is "an opposition" and glance over the supposed opposition (or as you'd have it, totally unrelated freethinker community) to roughly judge its general credibility?
Instead, a potential Arm player should do all the work in meticulously poring through this forum to understand the different personalities of each poster and deduce their individual credibility and track their posting history to figure out what complaints are legitimate and what complaints are from righteously-banned bad actors and then summarily judge whether they should play the game or not?
You're asking a great deal. It's unrealistic and I think you're just being defensive about the fact that you don't want to have to moderate this forum or upset your friends from 20 years ago who never grew up. If we're talking about emotional maturity and the capability of recognizing that you're wrong, and judging Armageddon staff for not having this capability, a defensive reaction in this vein is hypocritical and serves nothing... except perhaps the entitlement of admittedly hilarious people to continue being insults to everyone's credibility here.
I sure hope nobody who failed to dedicate their playtime to sleuthing through a cesspool of shitposts actually does feel guilty for "having their head in the sand".

But wouldn't moderating the board defeat the purpose of this board being a free platform of discussion? The purpose of the board isn't to expose corruption, but it does because it isn't moderated when it makes people uncomfortable.
the GDB is a good place to expose corruption, but it doesn't work because when it makes people uncomfortable, it is moderated.
Having a free platform isn't going to be pretty but it also isn't going to be susceptible to corruption.

Is anyone really supposed to believe that you would have taken the dozens of posts over decades and multiple forums about staff abuse seriously if several posters that were completely unrelated hadn't made veiled racist jokes five years ago which originated from the game you played? reddit, the gdb, other mud forums, etc all hosted complaints. no one is expecting you to sleuth through here or use it as your sole source of information. |

And if you expect nothing from people then why are people being criticized for only having quit Armageddon recently?

I think if anyone feels bad for only quitting Arm recently, that's something they should examine themselves. No one's trying to make you feel bad. The worst I've seen anyone else write or have written myself is that a lot of people were sorta-kinda aware of what Shalooonsh was doing and only quit the game now because everything blew up.
The very first time a "big post" was made about this it wasn't here, it was on Reddit. Armageddon players went there, looked at the evidence and called it fake, looked at the account and called it unbelievable. The post was about Shalooonsh demanding mudsex from a player. Can't help but wonder what they're doing now, aside from keeping very very quiet.

Thing is.. I get where migrant is coming from. I made the argument years back that the boards look unprofessional and at the very least rename some of the categories. But ultimately I don't care enough to get entrenched in some huge debate over it. Jcarter started the boards and his argument is sound.. these are free forums anyone can make another one if they wanna deal with it. I just wanna thank Jcarter publicly here for taking his free time as a volunteer to take care of these forums. I know he has a life and can get very busy so I think I speak for everyone here when I say we really appreciate your efforts. |
