Aren't Zalanthan years and ages a little more complex than 1:1? It seems weird that wasn't discussed once in the entirety of this shitstorm. My understanding is that a Zalanthan year is 1:1 to an Earth year, but since Zalanthan years have twice the amount of days as Earth (roughly), each day is about half the length of time. So a 13 year old human on Zalanthas is as old as a 13 year old human on Earth. I mean, either it's that or staff have been giving false information on the GDB about it. |

Legality has not much to do with it. I honestly don't care how much foam is dripping down your mouth whenever you hear the world "Arm" either. But if you're jumping from forum to forum trumping up often false reputation about a game I like, I care about that. Is that so complicated to grasp?

It's a text game, the amount of detail each person gives to reading the description, or having his own weirdo fantasies are two different things. I'm not too worried. If every game that allowed a possibility of a minor giving out their personal information to an adult and opening himself to be preyed upon got closed down, then that would literally describe every multiplayer game. Teamspeak, discord, steam, all of those things fall under that category. There are muds out there that are into some seriously freaky shit. And I have no doubt that there are minors in there, pretending to be adults. And adults .. pretending to be minors. I cant really blame staff for not wanting to wade into that pool of shit at all. It did not seem to be predominant, unless a person was actively "looking" to see it. As is often how some people on these forums operate. They're looking for shit to whine about and well ... they do find it. I played this game for decades. And I never encountered any kind of sexual scene that involved minors. I have observed a behavior of some PCs who are in fact minor if you look at their stat sheet, but they're acting more adult and more sexualized then some 20s-21 year old characters played by others. I've also seen people who began as teens and youths and are too lazy to apply for sdesc change. So they're in their 22s and they're still youths and teens. It's a text game, allowances should be made. Allowances should be made, unless a person is actively looking to talk shit. Which many people on these forums do. And when they do touch an interesting topic that is somewhat worth exploring, they're dismissed and rightfully so. I would pay a lot more attention to Shakes' complaints, then Mehtastics', or Jcarter's, or Ppurgs. |

During the time periods of earth that most align with the development in arm, people often married in their early teens, and kings were considered "men", able to rule without a regent at 13. This change just feels like another surrender to modern PC culture, when we're playing a game based on a place and time that shouldn't reflect that culture. Supposed to represent a gritty world far removed from our own. Real life influencing a game world in any way shouldn't be applicable, 's all. Looks like the fumigation is working. |

Where was all this criticism when you were all actively playing? The staff created a sockpuppet account with a tracker pixel in its signature and banned people for posting here. They advertised their campaign of suppression, just without including their methods. That's in addition to regularly banning or stripping karma from people they thought they could identify. Interestingly enough. I still dont know who was it who made those pixel trackers. There was a time when Nergal banned members of these boards for using them. The way he did it is by matching the game email with email used for these forums. There are other ways, but overall, they're all a lot more inaccurate then straight out matching IPs. So to this day, I straight out dont know who was it who was doing it. I assume it would be staff, but it never reached IDB, or anything like that. And I think the technical aspect of it is a little above Nergal's ability. |

The threat to GoDaddy is almost ridiculous. Arm doesn't have a policy of allowing this, they don't advertise it, and would probably shut it down if they saw it. Or at least they could claim they would and who would know?
It would be like someone threatening to call the ACLU on jcarter for the existence of the Shadowboards and him immediately capitulating.

The day before Exodus' post, I saw a scene in game between three very young female pcs and a couple older drunk male pcs. There was no overt sexual content, or even consent or ftb. I know one of the femlae pcs is being played by a female veteran, by her GDB handle. If this scene caused that, its just as likely a vet or staff member invited a friend into arm and got embarassed.

Ah, well, possibly. It could be that, from an admin position who can invisibly see everything going on, there's a lot more sketchy filthy shit happening than we as players would ever know about. And they just don't want a light shining in there.  |

I could care less though, I haven't played a minimum age PC in a long long time, just doesn't interest me. What concerns me more with this is limiting what people can and can't play. I will defend to my death freedom of speech, and people's rights to do what they want on the internet so long as they aren't harming others. It's all fantasy in my eyes, logging in to fantasize about being some great warrior standing on a mountain of skulls with sword in the air is no difference then acting out sexual fetishes online in my opinion. Just different strokes for different folks. |
