I played labmud for a bit more than an hour over the last few days.
Its disappointing to get a brand new pc with 3 poor stats out of 6. It reminded me unfortunately of SOI, where you couldnt be competent at self defense unless you had great stats and some rpp.
I couldnt figure out how the craft commands work. No help file was obvious.
I saw two pcs. I couldnt figure out where the "rp stage" was, or how to tell when pcs gathered there.
I figured out how to forage, but without a craft command, I couldnt find anything to do with the items.
There was exactly one fightable mob, outside of the sparring ring. The one fightable mob was a death machine security robot. My pc died exploring, walking into a room with twelve of them. Incidentally, couldnt figure out how to look into the next room. No help file was obvious. To be fair, I ignored several warning signs before finding them.
Maybe there was a fightable puppy. I didnt try it, having a noncombatant pc.
I thought the player writing / literacy support was interesting.
It seems like a Socialize and griefer only mud. There is at least one group hunting the death machine robots.
I dont get it. How is a new player supposed to figure out what can be done?

I really hope you'll give labmud another try. I enjoyed what little I experienced of your PC before they met their untimely demise. Just so you know: I played labmud for a bit more than an hour over the last few days. Its disappointing to get a brand new pc with 3 poor stats out of 6. It reminded me unfortunately of SOI, where you couldnt be competent at self defense unless you had great stats and some rpp. You can reroll in chargen as many times as you like until you've got the stats you want. Once you're on the submit screen go back to the menu and repick your attributes. It's time consuming and a bit of a pain but you don't have to be at the mercy of rngjesus if you don't want to be. Every PC has the exact same number of points they can put into attributes barring merits/flaws. Crafting isn't live yet and is still being worked on by Japh. But soon(TM). The game's in a lull while we await season 2 which is when crafting and the safari zone will go live. The metaplot isn't advancing so if you're not big on social RP my advice would be to watch this space and come back once wave 2 starts. Right now they don't do anything but they'll have a purpose once crafting does eventually go live. The murder robots were never intended to be soloable but it's definitely doable once you've grinded up your skills some. My advice would be to try and join the robot hunter crew, or only go after ant-bots, they're relatively harmless until they run out of ammo. 'LOOK ROBOT RAY' and when the battery is getting close to 0% then flee. At least until you're kind of grinded. Edit: Just got told this information is outdated. Antbot's AI has been improved and they will bite even if their raygun isn't empty so don't try to solo them! There's a HELP NEWBIE that should explain the very basics. If you do have any questions it doesn't cover, you're always welcome to ask on the discord: discordapp.com/channels/295417662513610754/295417662513610754.
