Yo, everyone. Brand new to this board. Found it through searching for crafting recipes.
I noticed that in the "Crafting megathread" that Armorcrafting was severely neglected. Basically, this is me asking for help as an armorcrafter in the south. I've gotten as far as crafting most options from a scrab shell, as well as crafting bone studs and chitin studs.

There's a whole lot of stuff that's locked behind the Salarr clan-flag. Basically you won't have a chance of making Salarri materials unless you join, as you surely know.
That being said, there's not much that stands out to me to be made in the south that isn't Salarri. You'll have a good chance of making raptor-hide leather I believe, but I was never a successful crafter so I don't have a spreadsheet or anything I could share. Perhaps someone could come along and share one as a helpful gesture.

Armor crafting is heavily gated by Clan and branching. Merchants have to branch it from armor repair (which I hell, especially if unclanned), or take a subguild specifically to unlock it. So the result is that most merchants are in a clan, and then once they do start making armor any new item they create is locked into that clan. Even more-so, Salarr doesn't want anyone else crafting armor, and go out of their way to shut down competitors. Your best bet is to join Salarr if you want to make armor in the south.

I'm a warrior/armorcrafter. I just wanna know my options and what I can make for myself. Like I just crafted chitin studs and bone studs, but i cant figure out how the fuck to make studded armor. no hides are working.

I would suggest practicing with the free bits of chitin found a few rooms east of the merchant gates and one room south in the dried out husk ... find yourself a scrab shell and you can make up all kinds of goodies (breastplates, shoulder plates, greaves, helms, etc ...) Otherwise sign up with the Salarr ... if you're into the non-solo-RP scene

I'm already killing scrabs and raptors left and right, so I can get materials. But i duh wanna go salarr. I like being a solo badass. duskhorn pelt + curved length of tortoiseshell duskhorn pelt + chitinous plate duskhorn pelt + length of plated chtin duskhorn pelt + mantis shell jozhal skin + scrab shell carru hide + scrab shell tandu hide + kryl shell tandu hide + silt horror shell a length of chitin plate + a length of spiral horn cunyati nuts + goudra hide The only studded armor recipe I've seen has been for chitin studded shields. You simply arent going to get very far unless you pile up mats and start looking for 2 material combinations. This, and many other things with a merchant, are hard to do without safe storage, which you dont get as a solo badass. If I were to try a southern armormaker, I'd carry around obsidian chunks and try to craft them with everything I come across. Most unclanned pc crafts are at or just above the tier of goods in the shop. Most clanned pc crafts are just better items. Desert elf armor from lots of skins on the west side of the map. Piles of Kuraci +skill specials. Akai Sijr. Salarr items. There has been a power creep in what has been approved over time. Many of the items you can order from clans like Kurac and Salarr are up a power level again. Ask around about the muarki serpent hilted broadswords, or the light full suit of kurac plate, or their +ride items. I've been told that one time master crafts can be fairly powerful items, but those have seemed to disappear behind the clan workshop limits.
