Besides buying torches is there any way to get light sources like crafting them yourself? And can you forage oil for lanterns anywhere??

There are several types of craftable lanterns like those made from gourds and others from stone - I 'think' you can only buy the oil for them, but I'm not certain... I generally don't bother with lanterns and go for the poplar option instead - a glowcrystal (vanilla or leather-wrapped).

Glow crystals are best. The wind doesn't blow them out, you don't have to fuck around with oil, and they weigh nothing. Plain ones can be bought in the bazaar in Allanak from the old prick near the east arch (and I think in the Red Storm market as well), but those have to be held in your hand. Leather-strapped ones, wearable on wrists/ankles, can be bought from House Kurac.

In Tuluk they have an irrig beetle staff (they glow like fire flies). With Tuluk closed I'm not sure if this is still for sale (in Morin's Village/TinyTuluk.)
I've noticed irrig beetle items in game (live insects) which leads me to speculate about some kind of craftable irrig beetle light source.

There are glow crystals in the sewer if you are feeling brave. They are in the filthy grotto it is marked on the map.

Kurac has some wearable glow stuff. Kadius had some too for a teensy bit, back during Arm 2.0 schtuff.

There are glow crystals in the sewer if you are feeling brave. They are in the filthy grotto it is marked on the map. This has been removed from game actually ... replaced with a forageable stone item ( a glowing phosphorescent shard (or something like that)). This item behaves oddly, as is lit when foraged. One can extinguish it, before tucking it away, however it was my experience that the item still used up it's "fuel" (becoming something similar to a sandstone shard).
