I'm about 500 pages into Jonathan Norrell and Mr. Strange. !!! Fucking British people, man. It's a great book.
Within in the last few weeks (literally been waking up to a book and going to bed with one):
All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren - recommended to me years ago by a dude who taught college English for 40+ years. Also recommended for me to be a teacher. I had never considered it beforehand. Anyway, it's a damn fine book if you want to learn about the South.
Dune... How had I not read this before? Bout to get all up in them sequels fo real.
Reread Breakfast of Champions... One of the best lines is the one about unusual opinions.
finished Haunted by Palahniuk. Yeah... Kinda weird but clever as hell. But sorry, I think I read it all in Edward Norton's voice.
Inherent Vice by Pynchon - LOVED IT!!!! YES!!!
Old Venus, edited by George R R Martin. GREAT short story collection. Tuf Voyaging is another good scifi short story collection - but it was written exclusively by Martin.
Intruder in the Dust by Faulkner - a damn fine book, and a short one at only ~200 pages.
Light in August by Faulkner - three words: Joe. Fucking. Christmas.
Trigger Warning by Gaiman - good, but dude, Dr Who fan fiction? Seriously? Come on man.
Finished Galapagos by Vonnegut - I had tried to read it in 2005 and 2007 and just couldn't finish it for some reason.
Freedom by Jonathan Franzen. Shaleah mailed this one to me. It was long as hell and mostly about a bunch of damn Yankees, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Selections from Coetzee's 'Inner Workings,' a reread of his Garcia Marquez & Faulkner sections
Ender's Game, finally... It was SO. GOOD.
Look at the Birdie, a Vonnegut short story collection that was decent.
Hmm, I guess that's about it. It's amazing what not having constant access to the Internet will do for a fella's reading. Gives me confidence that I could totally kick prison's ass.
What are sommore good books to read?
