And not long after volunteering to provide the furnishings/food/rebuilding needed to make it viable, the reminder comes up, from you directly (unless you happen to be a sundown pc right now, you're jazet), that oh yeah, the building in question doesn't belong to you. Looks like you need MONEY. LOL NADU

because 1) you have no guarantee her replacement would be as bad and 2) if it's not impossible because staff, you could always to it again, and again, and again, until people are afraid to play the role because it's a choice between isolation and death sentence. 1) You have no guarantee her replacement wouldn't be worse. Or a combat monster. Or someone who walks around with 20 NPC guards at any given time. that response is irrelevant because of my second point. did you just hit reply and respond to me as you read my post? Because otherwise i'm not clear on how you thought saying something disproven as valid before you wrote it would come off as a valid response. 2) That's toxic for a role-playing environment and is worse than the actual problem. it's toxic for a role playing environment thats driving players away with its toxicity and making the remainder miserable. Tell me, which scenario sounds more realistic (from an rp standpoint): people revolting against a tyrant or people simply ceasing to exist with no action causing it because their players quit? what I suggested is no different than everyone playing any other group that should be represented in the VNPC population but isnt for some reason or another. To refer you back to my original question which you have thoroughly avoided answering: whats keeping someone from forming a cabal of pissd off players and everyone just killing her as a group?BitterFlashback no idea, as I'm not only not a fan of coded combat but not big on pk in general, I wouldn't be the one to talk to about things preventing a particular pk, because for me, the answer is always (almost always): sounds like a lot of time and effort to put in to likely die in the process of killing someone else, thus wasting massive amounts of not only my time but the other party's as well. this is why it would have been helpful of lurklord to answer my original question directly instead of trying to deflect away from it and find some subjective excuse to shoot the idea down so he could keep pushing his opinion as the only option.

Yeah, tell me about it, meh - you can forage for driftwood, lichen I didn't even know was poisonous, and how do you even get these so called pills? I've never seen anyone get them but 1 pc who gave 1 of them to mine 1 time. Tell me about this sparring compound that was not originally, nor is it currently, the Sundown's land, but in fact had to be gotten through NADU. Not once, not twice, no less than 3 times, just since I've been playing. Tell me about the Sundown's social edge? The only one of them that hasn't been totally cold-shouldered by everyone is Vala, who wasn't even born a Sundown. (shrug) I'm not even gonna keep worrying about this. Sundown has all the money and the land and the business and the employees and the power... oh wait, no. That's Nadu. But keep whistling the tune, one day someone will believe you.

Yeah, I'm pretty much done arguing the point, but I'd like to repeat the age old expression: Be the change you want to see.
OOCLY complaining about a powerful character having power isn't going to change anything. Making another powerful character to challenge things likely will.
And to answer Bitter's question, I'd probably say nothing aside from the fact that'd actually take effort to do and it's easier to OOCLY belittle a character you don't like. The character in question is a squishy guild_merchant.

Everyone who logs into Esos to try it should go anti-Sundown. Why, do you ask? Because from what I've been told, they have a never-ending supply of super rare materials to forage, without any risk, right in their encampment. They can forage their own poisons, cures, food, craftables, all unique to them, because they are unable to be found anywhere else. They have full pc representation of leadership, which gives them a social edge and ability to go out and lord their power and authority over all of the mundanes who are in the city trying to get by. They have a sparring compound, their entire nature is designed around going out to go hunting/killing/twinking. They have pc numbers superior to the other enclaves, so they can mass power in numbers to their call. Let's not even get into the magic pills they have. All of this throws game balance right into the toilet, game-breaking in the amount of favoritism they are being shown. You want hardmode? Play a dwarf. Everyone shits on you, literally. You're little more than a slave race. You have almost zero starting resources and what you have to do, you have to earn for yourself. Oh, but when you ask staff, they point out to you that you have skilled manpower, but no resources. Ain't that a bitch? Give me a break, Anaiah. In fact, to further address this, there are no clan unique craftables to sundown. Anything they can make can be made by anyone with the materials. They also don't have cures you can forage. They don't have cures you can make. They have cures that one time got loaded for a single pc, which you can't get without them being loaded, which no one has had done outside that single time. They have no social edge as the pc you have to go through to get anything done has publicly shunned all but 1 of them who was not even born into the family. They have no power, and have lorded it over no one. The fact of the matter is, you have 5 pages of people complaining about a single Enclave. And it's not Sundown. You have over a dozen people who've left because of a single Enclave. And it isn't Sundown. Tell me about all the favortism for the bankrupt, landless enclave that's by design not going to have any money or interest in politics. Because there is a chorus of voices singing an entirely different song.

Be the change you want to see. oh, it's tempting. i have been meaning to try EOE and not being able to change a problem like the Baroness was puttng me off.

Part of the problem is surely that Sundown's the only other Enclave with active leaders? Wayden Avasar logs on maybe twice a week, and apparently primarily to interact with Nathiria. Same for Aurora Kaden, I think. I mean, if they're actually doing something else, I see no sign of it. Also a locked off lounge for Nathiria and Wayden's buddies to hang out in when they should be making interesting stuff happen in the city is really dumb. They need to open that up.
I want to go explore the world and whatnot, but even with really good stats and skills at around 70, I still can't take down a mob near the city, so I'm stumped.

I actually hope people go try Esos. It's a great game but it has glaring flaws I just couldn't deal with. If I had it my way I'd have started a pure combat PC and become so strong I could act on my aggression that Crosolino was feeling IC. I wanted him to become a Warlord in the city but that was completely OOC for me. So I suicided and left it at that. I wish I could go back to Esos but I'd rather play League honestly, at least I can wreck people on League with my skills.

So there is great RP to be had at Esos I posted the log here: armageddonmud.boards.net/thread/501/esos-log?page=1&scrollTo=14392But I prefaced it with the fact that a lot of my OOC feelings were bleeding into my character unfortunately. It was so damn maddening to try and get anything done I just literally shrugged IN GAME and gave the fuck up.

Legendary's post on page 2 hits the nail on the head and rails it out the other side of the f*ing wall. The nail promptly goes into a low orbit orbit. I played Deleraks brother a while back (this would've been maybe August)? At the time the game was truly and honestly just a sandbox where you could play NPCs in the Nadu lady's glitter bubblefart tailoring emulator. There was no economy, and the imms even admitted it all poured out of the Nadu chicks ass, but with caveat. That was my interpretation of it, but here's the relevant portion from Alaire (staff): Here is the link, you'll need an account to access: db.eoemud.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=375Jazet, you're off base saying that Delerak simply pissed on every opportunity he had. I'll admit that, by my own assessment IC and OOC, he was a bit of a hot head. He would approach players to try and start a working relationship, and if they didn't want to go along (which was usually the case) he would none-too-gracefully tell them to fuck themselves. He was very all or nothing, I'll give you that. But he did approach everyone diplomatically at the start. He even hand wrote that Nadu lady a letter politely inviting her to have a sit down with him, and she all but wiped her ass with it. He had Kavka on his side, and a couple of dwarves that were going to help him construct his bar (until that frumpy old one brow beat them out of it.) And he had the first RPT for the game, which was a huge success and actually got some of these AFK Barrons to come out of their estates and shock people with their actual existence. Pissing off Lily? Give me a fucking break, she was a Nadu stoolie. Pissing off Zach and Thresh? Who cares? Zach was incompetent, and Thresh was stupid and incompetent. They were white nights who talked about honor, and starting war with the elves. They were never going to be allies to the crimelord, and they certainly weren't going to be good ones. In fact I specifically remember you (Jazet) gloating about how stupid those two were OOCly. I remember because you used the phrase "keystone cops" which I'd never heard before and had to google.

Only people want to build things, which requires property, which requires Nadu. Want a horse? Too bad it's 7k and you can't make that coin anywhere without trading on promises that require extensive ass kissing to deliver on, etc etc. People want to own things, which requires money, which requires Nadu. Note: I maintain that a lot of things don't require money, and am right about that, I have a pc who's multiple IC years old who has never traded for anything but barter. But getting others on board with that is not a feasible reality. I've spent RL months trying to convince others to play ball. If you're the only one doing it, it doesn't work. from you're posts what i'm reading is that you're bad at playing politics. kiss ass. flatter. get what you want, slowly, one piece at a time. and then stab that bitch in the throat.

if you want to kill someone, sucking on their asshole is way more effective than being adversarial

the way i see it, you try politics when you can, you kill characters when it doesnt work. Some players are too fucking stupid to respond to anythng less than coded violence. When the others see you doing it and it becoms a real possibility, you dont need to do it as much after.
