I can only speak about my (and my friends) experience. We tried to do a few things here and there and the staff supported the Nadu which is the ruling family pretty much. All the money comes from them and if you aren't kissing ass with them you aren't getting anything. It was disappointing.

I want to disagree with that but I can't by all rights. I've gotten things done, but it will take doing, and if you're in the city, you're their bitch. Just outright.

If by gotten things done meaning the admins loaded in rooms for you or npcs I get that. I did that as well. But that's not you getting anything really because that's how they operate. When it comes to trying to establish something it's neigh impossible because the pbase isn't big enough and the pbase is very amateur.

It's almost like the admins want to give you what you request to keep you as a player. It doesn't work that way. I as a player don't care about having npcs/rooms/my own clan. I care about having a rich rping experience, nigh impossible when every PC is running around doing stupid shit.

For me it's a lot less about that as an issue and a lot more about the fact that the IC representation of what is, and the documentation of what is, are not really lining up. There is no way you can say Nadu's not already the ruling family when they own all the land and all the money, and their support/backing is necessary to get anything done in the city, despite the fact that the documentation speaks to the existence and importance of a council and the decisions by vote. When the vote of 1 particular person can tank everything but it's only from 1 particular family, that is a demonstrative evidence of the council as existing to be little more than a mouth piece. Which I don't mind, but I think that the documentation should reflect it.

i thought Eoe was very player-drven. Couldnt you just ignore them and do the shit yourslves? Yes and no. There is technically nothing to stop you from doing what you want, except to do what you want requires Nadu. Nadu is a one of the families who rule the human race and control certain commodities, or at least that is how it is on paper. They're supposed to control luxury goods and assorted finery; Kadius with a different wrapper, if that makes it easier to process. Humorously, Kavka is the Salarr of EoE, right down to it's rivalry with Kadius. I mean Nadu. (I mean Kadius) When I say on paper, it's because Nadu is the ruling faction and their Baroness is for all intents and purposes the queen. She controls the only source of money flowing into the game and through her, Nadu controls every single aspect of the game that isn't exclusive to another clan. The other clans still need to pursue her favor because her clan is the only one with an infinite supply of money and resources. Everyone else is poor and has to make due on their own. We'll put a pin in the fact this character seems to have a expansive list of maxed skills and ignore the entire staff waiting on her hand and foot. We're going to assume she isn't a staff avatar as many people suspect. We're going to take them at their word on that. If you want something, you will have to go through Nadu. If you need something from one of the other clans, you are likely still going to need to go to Nadu for money because the price of goods are so high and jobs so sparse and ill-paying that most will never have the means to buy a horse, armor and weapons without becoming a member of her semi-IC, semi-OOC clique. And you will need to suck up for it. It's the kind of sucking up that feels decidedly more out of character than in. You will need to respond to prolonged conversations in the OOC channel and you will need to laugh at all of the out of character jokes she makes. Or you're never going to succeed, you will never have an income, you will never 'have'. Period. You will be treated to excessive rants about Nyr and Armageddon and how different and better EoE is... from someone who is responsible for more people leaving the game than all other issues combined. You don't need to believe what I write her, you can browse their forums to see posts of people leaving, or other posts on this forum from others that will tell you the same thing. If you're willing to endure all of the above, consistently, you can make a go of it on EoE and do what you want to do. If you're going into it with the expectation that with some grit and time investment, you can go your own way, you're going to be disappointed. At best, you will have to wait extensive periods of time just to hear back. At worst, you will be ignored and your investment a complete wash. At one point, it took me real life days to get a meeting, so I could order a skinning knife from Nadu. My character was vilified for expressing displeasure at the wait, by every other PC in the tavern. I never did get that skinning knife. Think about it.

I warned y'all before...oh well. If you wanna be somebody's ant in their little ant farm for them to shake, smash or whatever the hell they want to do to you at the moment...have fun with that. That game is on a whole other level of fuckedupness.

This is what I've been saying. All the power is in a very small group of people who play house and act very clique-ish, etc. Legendary and lyse hit it on the head perfectly, so I'm just running my mouth. You can't kill them because they have maxed skills in everything and the players in question have access to the insane crimecode that automatically brings all city guards down onto said person.

Know what it's like? It's like YOU'RE an animated NPC in someone else's game. Sure they'll give you what you want and grant you whatever the concept, but you're their Barbie (or GI Joe) when they're done, they just put you back in your little box until they feel like playing with you again. I usually don't get really upset at much, no I really don't (former stoner) but when you take somebody's efforts and shit on them, just because you can, it's truly the worst thing you could do on any MU*. If it's not the staff animated PCs (yeah right) and it's really PCs that have that much power. It still says bad things about the game.

Wanted to point out a few things:
1. The NPC soldiers can't fight for shit. If you get killed by one, then you deserve it for trying to commit public crimes with novice combat skills. You only get crimcode flagged if you get seen commiting a crime.
2. There's a slummer PC that's successfully attacked several Barons now. Even having 4-8 NPCs dogpile on this particular PC didn't make any difference.
3. Nadu isn't the only enclave to get unlimited items. They just happen to get the most obvious, easy to use unlimited item.
For instance,
Avasar has unlimited food, hides, leather and pretty much anything you can get from an animal.
Sundown has unlimited access to poisons, wood and food without ever needing to leave their enclave.
Kaden has unlimited access to worthless soldier bodyguards who can't fight. But being able to walk around with ten following you makes a BIG difference.
Kavka doesn't get shit but access to a forge and you'd be dumb to play one.
4. There hasn't been a Baron, at least one that started as a baron in their background, that hasn't started with freakishly high skills. The reason for this is it's assumed that these Barons are the cream of the crop of their enclave. That's why they were made Barons.
5. Barons tend to make enemies of each other as often as they befriend each-other. Even if it's not always obvious. The reason the power's particularly one sided is because the two most active Seniors happen to be the ones who are supposed to be friendly by lore. Nadu-Avasar.
EDIT: If you want to change it, roll up a baron of your own. There's seriously nothing stopping you.
